im still on a natural high!!

this year started out a little rough as i fell from a tree around 16 feet and broke my right foot.everyday i would watch and follow along with our trad family hoping to heal well enough to get back out there, fast forward 6 weeks later and on November 9th im back in the treestand settled in a 1/2 hour before light.was a pretty windy morning as i was waiting for it to turn light and when it did it was just some squirrels frollicking around.about 45 minutes after shooting light a deer is walking down a thicket to my left and starts rubbing a sapling back n forth.i was happy to see that and was hoping he would make his way over to me.well when he was done he walked straight over to me like it was scripted.at about 13 yards he paused,i came to full draw and remembered pick a spot dont just shoot,i settled my middle finger in the corner of my mouth, picked a spot and left my natural instincts take over.i watched the arrow hit a little high but it looked like a lethal hit,he ran around a 100-120 and slowed to stop and i didnt see him anymore.i then was a little worried hoping i hit him hard enough.i waited a 1/2 hour, looked at my arrow and on the way down the treestand noticed a white spot where the area i didnt see him anymore.so i went back up my stand got my bow w a nocked arrow and stalked the white spot on the forest floor.I LOOK AWESOME AWESOME!!! There he laid stone cold dead!!!

i was FLOODED with adrenaline and overwhelming Happiness!!!! i just killed my first trad animal ever and a 8 pointer buck at that!!

i used a 50@25 1/2'' striker stinger 3pc t/d beman carbon classic mfx 100grain brass insert and 125 grain silverflame broadhead total arrow weight around 515 grains

the silverflame was very sharp and cut him up inside very very nice.when i gutted him it was like Raspberry Jelly everywhere

so i dont forget i would like to thank fellow Trad member BigEd for tuning my trad setup to perfection!!he is awesome and im very fortunate to have had his help!! Thanks again brother!!

And my girlfriend Debbie who loves to play in the woods with me dragging deer or whatever

treestand is 18'5'' to the platform and that is about all the higher i like for trad hunting

The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Great shot and really nice deer. Just wondering, were you wearing a safety harness when you fell out of the treestand? And if not are you now? A 16 foot fall and only a broken foot. You were very lucky.

pacopperhead

spikemaster i was very lucky and yes i do wear a safety belt when up a tree,my fall was when i was setting one up and shouldve had a limemans belt on which i wasnt wearing and will now in the future
