Been off to a slow start this year after taking 2 turkeys first of bow season, hunted hard here in S/Central KY, but saw fewer deer than normal, no movement due to best acorn/mast crop ever in my lifetime. Have saw a lot of deer though, first 3 weeks of season, just no shots, and let one small buck go. Well this morning at 8:36 had a doe come in by a pop up, at 10 feet! She spooked me and I flinched, and she wheeled and ran off. Then came back to see what I was, finally got bored starring at me and started walking of towards a food plot, quartering away. I focused on the crease of her leg, bottom 1/3 of her chest, anchored and pulled through and heard the arrow hit at 10 yards, she wheeled and nearly ran into the blind, ran past me about 40 yards and crashed in the old road that comes through the field. Kicked a couple of times and it was over. I gave her 20 minutes, then walked up to her and got a suprise.  I had nearly missed her, had skimmed her shoulder and cut her throat, reason she dropped so quick. The razor sharp Ace STd. did the trick, another reason for sharp broadheads.Oh well, I guess it was meant to happen or it wouldnt have. I am a happy hunter, nice #100 doe, mud fat for the freezer. I will try to get Mudd to help me post pics later. Thanks for looking.

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

There are many good moccasin tracks along the trail of a straight arrow: ( fox )
