Trying to decide what to try . I have always shot nothing but cedars. I would like something more durable and heavier. Also don't want to have to mess with straightening more then a little if any.I shot 31" 55-60#spine and want finnished arrow weight about 525-550 grains with a 135 delta point.

Try some Douglas Fir shafts from Surewood Shafts. Never heard a bad thing about them and Douglas Fir is an exceptional arrow wood. Cutting tapers is better done on a power sander but can be done with a hand tool if the blades are sharp. Other than that, I love the stuff. I think they would completely replace Cedar if it weren't for cedars' aroma and ease of use. I ordered a dozen Doug fir arrows 10 years ago and still have a few left. the others were lost on bad shots into the jungle out behind my house. I still hunt with the ones I have left.

I shoot alot of spruce.  I use a 200gr Ace super express on them with a 638gr total weight.

I've tried other wood...Surewood douglas fir shafts are no doubt the straightest, most durable, consistantly great shafts on the market today. Plus the guys who put their heart and soul into making them care about their shafts and are actually pretty good guys...haha  They also shoot trad bows. So you know their heart is into making the best shafts they can!

I have the better part of a LOT OF CEDARS from the 60's when they were cheap..lol.. ALL 55-60 AND decent but was looking more durable and heavier. What sticker shock NOW...will check into the Surewoods, Thanks

I got/getting spruce arrows from him too.
My shafts weighed in at a nominal 350grain.
Yours are 100 grain heavier.
Surprised at the variation in weight available.

Check with Rick at the Feathered Shaft.  He has Surewoods and Douglas Fir I believe.  Whatever they are, the are as straight as my Full Metal Jacket Axis shafts.

Surewood Shafts are made from straight grained "douglas fir" logs. Just wanted to clarify that. They are not laminated.

I only have test arrows made by feathered shaft.
They are tapered spruce.
I have a doz coming from him soon.

They are great looking arrows.
I can honestly say there was not anything I would have liked different.
Couldn't find a single thing even the slightest wrong with them.

I find I can get a finished arrow 75#-80#, 29" bop w/ 160gr tip at 585gr. I think if you tell them at Surewood what you are looking for they will work with you.
