or something like that. Anyone remember that thread? Was wondering how that fella made out. He found a spot an older hunter described to him. Could only get there in a canoe. It was a pretty neat story. He found it and posted a few pics and was going to hunt it. I tried to do a search but came up empty.

Oh Matt, I remember.  I had forgotten about it though.  Those were beautiful pics weren't they?  I hope someone can remember the post.  I hope that gentlemen throws a thread together with his pics!

Matt,  It's hard for me to listen to Old Timers anymore because those older than me are nearly all dead by now!

Thanks Jeremy. the thread is up again. I sure hope he got to hunt that spot. Anyone know when the season ends up there?

Hey Longbowman, you sayin' you might be an oldtimer:) I'm not far behind. Does anybody listen to ya?

Bill Carlsen

Being an oldtimer I am often the only one that will listen to me. So, yes, I listen to myself and a few others.

Do I or did I listen to old timers? Only when I wanted to learn something!!! Now I are one!!   :biglaugh:

It just does soemthing to you when the young trad guy comes up to you and you realize that every bow you own is 10 yrs. older than he is!

Missed it in March, so thanks for finding it.  He posted in Sept.  Wonder if he is camped out there now.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

You know, when I was a kid, you LISTENED to the old timers. Or..........you'd get a backhand across the mouth!

It isn't until you're older and wiser that you realize you shoulda listened for your own good.

How's that go? When I was 16 my Dad was the dumbest man on the planet. He sure learned alot in the next 5 years cause by the time I'd  turned 21, he was the smartest man I'd ever known.........

Biggie,

I showed what you wrote to my 24 year old son.

He just laughed and said, "Who ever wrote that just wanted to be sure he was mentioned in his old mans will."

Guess they don't all learn by 21!

I'm hoping at 56 years old I haven't fallen into this old-timer category yet?  However, I do talk to myself and I'm a very good listner.

Some people aquire wisdom along with their age. Some are old fools. I listen to everyone and then decide whether or not to act upon what I heard. I am old enough to know I don't know much worth knowing except Jesus. God Bless you all and have a great day. Steve

Thanks to TG I do. Not many around here so to speak.I do listen to Ron W whenever I get next to him. I did have a few of real deal old timers I often spoke and hunted with and asked a lot of questions. Two have passed and the other I lost touch with when I started raising a family. I miss them both.At least theres a few virtual Old Timers I get to chat with here.

At one time, we all rebel a little but if your raised properly by Christian parents and family....YOU LISTEN TO THE OLD TIMERS.

When it comes to hunting/fishing etc...what better person to ask than someone who has seen it or done it, made the mistakes and is now willing to share the information that will make you successful.

I never hesitate to offer advice or help someone when I'm asked, especially when it comes down to ground hunting or still hunting. At 58 yrs old, I still keep my eyes and ears open when someone speaks....your never too old to pick up a few pointers.

Went to a family reunion last weekend, and realized that I'm third in line for the oldest Stokes left in the family. Even though I'm a hexagenarian, I still listen to my septogenarian and octogenarian uncles when they offer advice.
