This is branching from another post of mine, but has anyone tried this stuff? Good, Bad?

I have not had very good results with it. I clean the inside of my arrows and have never had an issue with cyanoacrylate glue. But, I decided to try insert iron. I've had 9 out of 12 arrows lose the inserts. I won't be using it again

Works great for me, but I have not tried to remove any inserts that were installed with Insert Iron.

Have been using, no complaints but have not tried to loosen with heat yet.

How much do you have to use on the insert to get it to hold properly?

I have lost a couple inserts using it with carbon arrows. I cleaned both he arrow and insert with alcohol and followed the directions on the bottle. I stopped using it.

Well I bought a bottle of it. Hopefully it works out alright. I'll use a lot, to make sure it holds well. If it doesnt, ill just get out the gorilla glue.

Works great, thick too which I like and the inserts can be removed with heat (saving money). I does thicken in the bottle once you open it, I have one about three months old and it's got maybe another two and she'll be to hard to use (I guess)

Thought I would post my results here. I just started using it and works great. I did loose one insert from and arrow that missed the mark and stuck into a plywood sheet. I was using the arrow within 24 hours of glue up, not the recommended 72hrs.
I am in the tuning process and wanted to try and remove the inserts. I put the arrow into boiling water and after about 5 minutes was able to remove all the inserts.

for all inserts, after cleaning both the insert and shaft tube end, i use quality slow set epoxy. they never ever come out.

It worked for a while on my carbon arrows but the inserts are coming loose now.

I have been using it a while and so far so good.
I am impatient so I dont like the dry time but I can live with it if it works.

I`ve had good luck with it.I take a rifle bore cleaning brush and scuff the inside of the carbon shaft.Then clean with alcohol or lacwuer thinner.I`ve done 4 dozen arrows and none have came loose yet.I heated one shaft last night to line up my broadheads and it worked just fine.

I like Insert Iron. It's as durable a product as I can find that will allow me to remove the insert if I want to without damaging the shaft.

On rare occasions, the inserts do come loose. So occasionally, I will clamp my points in a vice and give a strong twist to the shaft. If the insert is loose, it will twist and I can just pull it out and reglue it right then. This also has the advantage of tightening all my points so they don't start unscrewing themselves when I'm shooting them. I don't like having to tighten a point before I take a shot. Since I've started doing this, I haven't lost any inserts in targets.

I thought I would like it as it is much more convenient to use than hot melt, and epoxy is permanent. Well, I won't be buying it again-- a number of inserts have come out, and the stuff dried up in the bottle despite being careful with it so it was a waste of money, I think.

I like it, works well and heat reversable. Only issue is the plastic bottle must leak air and it will set up in the bottle over time (as all, I guess), still usuable but won't squirt out and have to dip it now (that bottle is like 6 months old) Favorite glue for inserts for me on carbon shafts. You can find it for under 10 bucks if you look.

I like it, and I have never had a point work loose with it. The bubble of air in the bottle when it is new is, I understand, not air, but rather it is inert gas. If you let regular air into the bottle the glue gets worthless. I make sure to open and close the bottle upside down once the bubble has worked its way to the bottom of the bottle. Doing this, I prevent air from replacing the gas bubble.

I have reversed the bond with heat and that works as advertised.
It is good stuff, but a bit touchy to use because of its reaction to air.

I was wondering why some people experience the glue drying out in the bottle, while I have never had that happen. I think the reason is accidental: I store the glue bottle upside down, so I don't have to wait so long for the glue to get to the spout. I think that in storing it upside down, it also probably accomplishes the purpose of keeping the glue near the spout away from air, so it doesn't dry out. I find that in storing it upside down, glue hardens around the threads after a while so I can't screw the cap on, but a nail pushed into the hole works just as well, maybe even better, as it keeps the hole open for the glue to move through.

Ive had a lot of inserts pull out stumping lately and just ordered this stuff to give a try. Glad I read about storing up sidedown thanks Smoking Joe adn McDave.
