My goodness it felt good to be deer hunting again! I've been at this for 33 years it just keeps getting better and better. Like a kid at Christmas all over again! I guess I'll never understand folks that "loose the urge",or have "no desire to hunt this year"....not me!

Great morning(saw three small bucks), but a bit on the windy side. Great morning to try out my new Sitka Stratus gear. Cut the wind like a sharp knife just like it's supposed to...another winner for Sitka!!

Every one of these trees had scars from being rubbed at least one time in prior years. A couple had two years worth of scars and a new rub on them!  Very impressive!!

i love opening day as well,very windy here in western n.y. also.hunted on the ground,saw a few deer but, no shots,it's good to be out there again.
The human body is the only machine the harder you work it, the stronger it gets.
"Aim small- Hit small" ( I never think negative)

Nice rubs!  I was out this past week as well. It seems to me there were quite a few fresh rubs that have appeared in the last week or so.

So far no shots, so no pictures to show. Neighbor's dogs and erratic winds to blame. At least thats my story.
