BigJim Camo dipped my bow fishing rig

I picked up a very well used and abused vintage Kodiak Mag not long ago after much hassle with a deal that ALMOST went sour. I was looking for a bow suitable for bow fishing and this K-mag fit the bill. It had holes all over, missing coin, someone sanded off all the specs and stickers, but it shot good and pulled about #40. The price was right and the condition didn't matter as I was going to use it for bow fishing.

I wish I would have taken some pics prior to sending it off to Jim. I sent it to him with the holes predrilled for my AMS reel and some instructions saying to not fill my reel holes, and to not worry about the other holes to include the coin hole.

I received my bow two weeks later and I was amazed at his work. BigJim filled the holes to include the coin hole leaving my reel holes untouched. The bow was perfectly done in predator deception green. I mounted my rig, added a Velcro rest and let a few arrows loose in the back yard. The bow shoots as good as it did before I sent it to him and looks great. The finish is VERY durable, as I have knocked it around unintentionally and it shows no wear. In fact I had to widen the reels holes a bit by using a drill, and the finish didnt flake or peal. I also made a mount for my Surefire flashlight out of a chair leg rubber foot from Homedepot. It sounded like a good idea, and works pretty well for close range shooting at night in the back yard. The the verdict is still out on weather it will work out for night time bow fishing.

This is my first K-mag and it has surprised me on how well it shoots for a short bow. Its going to make a fine back up, as well as a fishing rig next spring. In fact, I may have to look for another fishing rig for tag along hunter/fishers.

BigJim does great work, and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a fine camo job that will turn any ugly duckling into a show stopper. His prices are very reasonable too.

Thanks Big Jim!

Thanks guys. I know its just a bowfishing rig, and some people ask why would you sink more money into a bow thats going to get abused. I did it cause I always wanted a camo dipped bow, and its going to serve two purposes. Hunting and fishing. Also, I think it would help with resale should I go that route. The deal I got on this thing was amazing, and I plan on keeping it for a long while.

Make sure that light is on before you set it down on the river bank. Could loose that one easily.  Nice bow

Bobby,

No kidding. I set it down in my yard while shooting, and my dog trampled all over it cause he didn't see it. It can easily be lost. I'll be sure to dummy cord it to myself.

That rig is way cool! Let us know how the flashlight mount thingy works and if the light is bright enough for night time bowfishing. I am very curious as I am thinking about trying night time bowfishing too.
