good shootin denny.  On a side note the bow I am shooting currently belonged to you first!!  Its a 68# two piece osage black widow with Byron Ferguson's signature on it.  Shoots like a dream.  I am hoping to take a yote with it this year since we have quite a number on some of my hunting properties.

Nice going Denny....I finally killed my first one a couple years back, after missing many times.  A great trophy with a bow.   Congrats.

30coupe, I was hunting for deer from a treestand so it was just a random encounter.

Ron, The coyote was 25 yards away, and trotting 1/4ing away when it cleared. Arrow entered just ahead of the hip and came out just ahead of center. It ran about 35 yards in sight, fell over and then got up and went into some thick swamp grass. I waited a full hour before tracking. In my limited experience Mike Theis is right on when he said, "they die hard." The Woodsman head must have cut something good because it was laying only 5 yards into the grass stiff with rigor.
I think my shot was much better than yours!  :saywhat:

I have it in the freezer, it deserves to at least have a head mount.

Ron, that's about the same color as the one I tried to sneak up on...real blond. Once he saw me he put it in gear and left, but apparently didn't go very far. As I was walking out from my stand (I had bumped him on the way in) he cut loose with a howl about 30 yards from me. Let me tell you, those guys are LOUD up close!

I tag along with my cousin when I can. He hunts them with trail hounds. We don't usually kill them unless the dogs do. That way they are there to run again the next time. We don't have that many in our area, but east a ways, there are loads of them. They are very interesting creatures.

That is one long legged yote! Nice! How is the pelt?

Dsturgisjr

Roger, It isn't bad, but probably not at its best. I'll try and shoot another that is bigger than Ron's.  :)

Mmmmmm, lets see, How many years did it take for you to shoot your first yote? At that rate you'll be an old man and I won't be around to see it when you get the next one...
