I just ordered six of the Traditional Only® Carbon Arrows from 3rivers. Never shot carbon, but wanted to try some out. I shoot a 45# 62" wing thunderbird. Any comments?

i bought some last year pretty good arrows i had a little trouble with the fletchings staying they did not hold good for me probly something i was did wrong though

dino

I've shot moose and a couple of javelina with them plus my son has taken a couple of deer with them too. I am pretty happy with them over all. Got to fletch them on cap wraps or with a cyano glue or the fletching won't hold all that well. Dino

Consider some Gold Tip Traditional blems from Big Jim's Archery. When Jim has them they are $43.00/doz and blem is cosmetic only. For the $$$ you'll find no better. You would need 35/55 shafts.

I guy I shoot with uses those shafts they look real nice, kinda look like CX Heritage! I know they are made in the USA which is nice! I agree on the arrow wraps when fletching!

I think they are the Beman ICS Classic arrows. I have the Bemans and they appear to look the same.

I really like mine. I have shot them for years.

My setup is a Mohawk longbow, 68" 50# @ 30", ICS 340, 31.75", 100 grain brass insert, 125 grain point, 5 inch shield cut feathers, 571 grains, 18.5% FOC.

Fly like darts and hit hard!!!!!

I really like them. I've used fletch tape and super glue gel. No issues with fletch not sticking here. The best part about them is hot melt glue can be used to put inserts in with. Most carbon shafts must use epoxy to glue inserts and once they are in they are hard to remove. With the hot melt you can simply heat and turn to tune or take out.

340's seem a bit stiff for a 45# bow @ 28"? Does anyone agree?

KHALVERSON

340 ,s do seem  pretty stiff
i think a 500 spine would be more in the  ballpark
maybe a 400 spine if you really want to load up the front

JRY309

I agree 340's are going to be way to stiff for a 45# bow, even if you left them full length.I never just cut a carbon shaft to a certain length without shooting them bare.I start full length and tune and trim until I get the dynamic spine I'm looking for.The 500's or 600's would be a better choice to start with. The 340's would be my choice if you were shooting 65-70# bow,but not for a 45# bow.

rp65

I've only shot Aluminum arrows, but was thinking of getting carbons. This is a helpfull thread. While you tune them and cut them do you just put a very little glue to hold inserts, incase you need to cut them shorter while tunning.

BigJim

You can use Quick stick hot melt on most carbon arrows and still remove them. We  have been using it on the Gold Tips for nearly a year with no complaints. I am not talking about using the farrel tight. you must use the quick stick. It stays pliable and the bond won't break when you hit something solid.

they would be ok with about 400 grains up front - get Stu Millers spine calculator - that guys got talent

glass76

I use the 340's cut to 29" BOP. Shooting a 62# @ 28" with 210 gr. heads.

cacher13

I got the test kit and I'm pulling 45# with a 27.5 in draw. The 600's seem to work the best for me.

fnshtr

I shoot the 400s with 100 grain inserts and 5 gpi weight tubes... 125 grain BH at 29" BOP (27 1/2" draw). Total arrow weight of 630 grains.

Have taken two whitetails and one elk with the setup. Great penetration, durable arrows! I like 'em.
