Good morning to all,

I have a Northern Mist longbow. It was my very first traditional bow that I purchased(used). Over time I have acquired more bows mostly Recurves(Zippers & Brackenburys). I am more comfortable with the pistol grip type handles. Can a handle be modified on a completed bow?

Oregon Okie

I looked into this on here a while ago. Several people have used material to build up a grip. Bondo, epoxy, leather with superglue etc. I did it with bondo then put one of those rubber grips over it. Worked pretty well but I ended up taking it back off and am back to the wood... but it works.

You can make a simple locater style out of it with just sand paper and a rasp. I have done that will great success, go SLOW as stated above, be sure you like it. Im back to straight grips like Okie mentioned! Once I got used to them I cant hardly shoot any other.

Mine is opposite adding to the locator to make it straight. Carved a piece of wood form fitting then wrapped it with tight leather grip. Perfect. Easy to take off if ever decide to sell.

I'm going to try and modify it myself.

What grip do you have on your bow now. I know that if you send it back to Northern Mist, Steve can make a locator grip for you or do whatever he can to make you happy. He reduced and refinished a Superior for me, did a fantastic job and it cost me $100.
