I went out shooting yesterday and decided to shoot "Old School",left the Carbons and aluminums inside .I took out some of my homemade Cedar arrows and was reminded why I made them years ago. They flew like darts and were whisper quiet.I absolutely love every aspect of Wooden arrows.Just the smell of cedars brings back so many good memories. Its been along time since I put some together i don't even know who sells some good shafts.I use to dip and crest or can a person just wrap?

It depends how much time you want to put on them. For sure dip and crest is the way to go for full satisfation. This will make your long winter less boring.

Felix,Your right as I get older I'm always trying to find an easier way.Why the heck would I do that ,isn't this the reason we shoot what we do .There are NO shortcuts!LOL

Some sponsor may have some but my experience with Cedar has been "good luck with that". Excellent Sitka Spruce with weights similar to Cedar can be obtained from Hildebrand and if heavier appeals, just as excellent Douglas Fir from Surewood Shafts is available as well. Neither smells as good as Cedar but both are durable, straight and make great wood arrows.

I bought some very good one from Cedarsmith in montrose,Co.I have seen a post somewhere that he moved and I can't tell you where. They were straight and very well matched in spine and weight. Then i bought some ash shafts from Silent Pond New England, they are much eavier than cedar but they hit hard too.

It's been a couple of years since I needed to order cedar shafts, but the last time I did, I was pleased with the hand spined shafts I bought from Kustom King.

So I'ma walking by the bay and I see Felix watching a submarine and I say , A Felix is thata U boat and Felix says No thats nota my boat I justa watch.
God Bless you all and have a great day. I get tapered cedars from a place in Grants Pass Ore but I don't believe that they are a sponser. I sure want to get some of those Doug fir shafts though. Steve

Good POC can be an elusive item these days, Steve. Try Lost Nation or 3RA.  I don't even consider shafts from Rose City.  I have Douglas Fir from Surewood and Sitka Spruce from Hildebrand.  Both are excellent shafts and more durable than cedar, but they don't have that aroma.

I like the fact you can buy sets of different spine shafts to determine which spine shoots best for you (from Surewood Shafts).
