Help me choose I want one that is around 60# @ 28"or but I pull 29" I have read a lot of good things about them. I am looking at the Samurai any input from you guys that shoot the Shrew's would be great. Thanks

I've got a 62#@29" take-down Shrew bow. It shoots very well. Bamboo will make it a little snappier. But, any Shrew bow is fantastic.

I liked the Samurai the best myslef , it seems to be smoother on the draw and maybe a bit quicker . For 28in. draw I like the 58in. Super Shrew or the 56in. Classic Hunter . You can go shorter on either model and be ok but the shorter models  were a little harder to shoot or at least they were for me .

I shoot a 56" Classic hunter, carbon/foam model. My draw is 29 1/2" and its just butter smooth. Love the bow, perfect for treestands and  blinds. I dont guess Ive found anything negative about these bows.

I cant have one.........so I say they are all junkers.....out of jealousy of course.

Of all the ones that I have shot, I think the Classic Hunter draws the smoothest.  I don't know why but it is a slightly different design.  Any of them are great bows that shoot well and I wish I still had all of them.

I bought a 54" Classic Hunter from the classifieds here. It is a bamboo core version. It draws 47lbs at my short 25.5" draw length. I shot alot of bows at the K-Zoo show this last Jan., the Shrew Classic Hunters really impressed me which led to me searching the classifieds here to get one asap till I come up on Ron & Greggs list. The only other bows I own currently that I have for comparison are an old Bear Kodiak Hunter recurve and Shakespeare X27 Kaibab recurve. They both pull 3-4 lbs less at my drawlength so it's probably not a real good comparison but the Shrew seems to throw an arrow a heck of alot quicker and I shoot it far better even though its shorter. When my name comes up on the list I think i'm going with a 56" Classic Hunter with carbon/foam limbs and 50lbs at my 25.5" DL.

i shoot a shrew super shrew deluxe 60" 54# GREAT BOW!!! im sold on them, definitely will buy more.  just killed a deer with mine last week, the power for weigh ratio is phenomonal, the best ive seen from r/d longbows, and they still maintain their smoothness.

My Samurai is 60 inches long and 55@29.  Very smooth shooter.  Easy to tune, shoots a wide variety of shafts well.  Finish is beautiful.  Hardest part is the wait to get one.  You will enjoy the bow!  Good luck

I have a Super Shrew with the carbon/foam limbs.  58", 52 at 28".   I pull it right at 28.  Very smooth, quick enough.  It will be the bow I am carring this weekend - first trip out for the season (the weather has finially cooled off a little).

I have a total of about twelve or thirteen Super Shrews, Lil Favorites and Classic Hunters, and every one of them is wonderful. I also have two more on order. But if I had to have only one of them, it would be a 56" foam/carbon Classic Hunter with the BowBolt that makes it a two piece takedown bow. I have a couple of Samurais, one Super Shrew and one Classic Hunter, and they are great, but the foam cores and carbon backing do give a different feel that is distinctive in its exceptional smoothness. I agree with Champ38's wording when he calls it "butter smooth". I also like pretty bows, and so I have exotic woods in the riser and in the veneers of most of my Shrews. They are all a joy to shoot, and like others have said, they are great in tight places.

By the way, I have a 29.5" draw and the 54" Classic Hunter works fine, but the 56" is a little smoother. The 56" CH is actually capable of accommodating a longer draw than the 60" Super Shrew and the 54" CH is fairly comparable to or even a little better than the 58" SS at my draw length. For a 29" draw length, I would recommend the 56" CH as the smoothest; however, if you like an even shorter bow, the 54" CH would work very well.

Have had several Shrews (my favorite bows) and i have a 56" Classic hunter and a 58"Scout that have been my favorites. See very little difference between these two. Both smooth as butter.

It would be hard to beat the 56" Classic Hunter. I really like mine, for all the above stated reasons;  but have not shot any other Shrew models.

The only thing I don't see mentioned above is the grip design. I like it and I think most people to do as well. But it is different from my two other longbows. If you have not actually handled one, I would recommend trying one first if possible.

Amar911 has good advice. At 29" draw, I'd go with 56" Classic Hunter if you want short hunting bow. I draw 29.5 inches. If you like longer bows, the 60" Super Shrew would be better than the 58" length.  I've shot a 58" Samurai for years and it's killed a lot of critters (it's in my Avitar turkey picture and on Ron's website with my black bear), but in the regular Super Shrew configuration, I like the 60" length. The Classic Hunter has a shorter riser, so it's not apples to apples when compared to the 58" or 60" Super Shrews (which includes the Samurai model).

I've got a 54" Classic hunter and a 58" Super Shrew. I draw a tad short of a 29" DL. I get along good with both bows, although I do find myself getting a cleaner release with the 58" SS.

I have a 56" CH on order that is scheduled for a Nov. build. I think for me it will be a good compromise between the two I have now. I shot the Model T at Compton's this spring which is a 64" bow and I think that will be my next bow that I order.
