So I bought some arrows this summer. They are Carbon Express 250 with a 100 grain insert and a 125 grain tip. The arrows are 30 1/4 inches long, with 5 inch shield feathers. These arrows shoot just fine but I am wanting heavier arrows possibly. Right now if my math is right the over all weight is roughly 530 something I think.

I was thinking of moving up to the 350's? How much should I be looking for weight wise for an all around arrow?

I shoot a Damon Howatt 63# 28", and I mentioned earlier my arrow length, so i pull around the 29 and some odd range. Any help would be extremely great full.

I'm getting into hunting other things besides rabbits and squirrels. Turkey, Deer, Pigs, and anything else I can legally shoot.

A good rule of thumb for hunting arrows is 9-10 grains of arrow weight per pound of pull.Most bowyers want you to use a minimum of 8 grains per pound so as not to ovestress the bow.Heavier is quieter and all other things being equal,should penetrate better.

Your closer to 576g all in. Gpp of 10.5 and an foc of about 18.

Your setup will kill anything on your list given proper shot placement.  The pig will give you the most problem.  They are like tanks and not built like other animals.

I would say you are shooting at least 65 lbs. That's not even 9 gpp. I would shoot about 700 grs. with that setup. Your bow would love you for it. And the hogs would be easier to get through. Gary

I think your arrows are heavier then 530 grs.,especially with a 100 gr. insert.Get a inexpensive eletronic scale and know what your arrows weigh.You can get them at KK and 3Rivers for around $15.I bought one and have been using it for the last 2 years,still holding up fine.

You can shoot the 350's if you put enough weight up front. I shoot 60 pounds with a 29 and 1/2 inch arrow and the CE 350's fly great with a 100 grain insert and a 250 grain broadhead. This setup weighs close to 720 grains.

If you want more weight go with heavier heads. The Heritage are quite forgiving shafts. My buddy shoots the 250s cut at 29.5 with 100 gn inserts and around 300 up front. His arrows are around 725. He shoots them from a 55-57lb recurve. Fly like darts.

You will need a lot more than 225 grains up front on a 350 for good flight. I would think at least 300 grains. If what your shooting flies good, shoot it. It will kill anything in North America. Hell I shot several deer and a couple coyotes with a 42# Widow and an arrow that weighed 346 grains, so 8gpp. roughly. Shawn

Ok so What would be another arrow that will meet the same weight criteria with the quality of CE.

If they shoot good just worry about hunting.your setup will do the job if you can do yours

I shoot what i have fairly well but i dont want my bow blowing up because my arrows are to lite

here are the 250 and 350s from the spine calculator. two variables that will have great effect on your selection is center cut and the type of string that is on the bow. Since I did not know those I chose center cut and Fast flight 14 stand.  By including a 100g insert the arrow is considered footed by .50 inch. here are the results
