Can't wait to get out there. Acorns here are thick in only a few prime areas!!

Bowman....I don't know what the weather is suppose to be Friday, but last season it was 28 degrees, on opening morning.

Don`t waste a single minute...get out every chance you can.

Hunt hard, for all the right reasons.

I got home from work with only a little daylight left. I postponed dinner, and stepped out with my Predator recurve, for the last few minutes of shooting light. Without a word, both of my boys were soon beside me. We shot arrows until the flight was invisible, and only the "thump" of the hit to proclaim our accuracy. One arrow each...pull them, and shoot again.

Getting ready is over...

I humbly proclaim...thank you god.

Good luck to all my new Michigan buds that Mason and I got to meet at Compton this year ! May your arrows fly true !

I can't wait ! I took a vacation day for Friday, my friends holler at me for wasting a vacation day so early in the season, they say to wait for the rut, I just can't help myself, I have to be out there !

Good luck everyone !

Good luck to you all!  I hope that I'll be able to make out there next year.  I've been getting a hankering to hunt whitetail again.

Saw one doe this A.M. It was somethin

Saw 12 does & fawns, had a button buck come up and smell me on the climbing sticks, and run off scaring the rest away.  They came in just after daylight, eating acorns.   Button buck was the only one within 20 yards.  No wind, clear, 34 degrees!  Perfect morning to be in the woods!!

I hunted this morning as well.  First opening morning hunt in 12-15 years- just felt I needed some quiet time.  Had a doe w/2 fawns eating acorns for 1/2 hour, then passed by at 7 yards.  Soon after they were gone, another doe w/1 fawn repeated the process and passed by on the same trail.  Pretty pleased with my stand setup and tree choice this year.  With any wind from N or NW, I'm good to go.  Looking like pretty heavy rain this afternoon- planning on headed out fishing and add a few more walleyes to my freezer.  Good Luck to all fellow TGers.

I need to be better prepared for northern wind, my spot to hunt the northern breeze is not the greatest spot. Is it my imagination or are we getting more northern winds ? Last year we had our share of northerly breeze, My preferred spot is made to hunt the typical westerly breezes (been hunting it for 20 years !) last year I remember more northern breezes than usual. I guess I better prepare a better spot when the northern wind is happening.

We saw two groups of turkeys they all stayed just out of range. and 6 doe they never got into range until after shooting light was gone.

Working on bows this morning hunting again this evening

Stay safe and be sure you wear your fall restraint in the stands
Just get outside and blow the stink off!!!

We hit it hard for the whole opener. (kids had no school)

The weather was great, with cool temps, a mild steady breeze, and just a couple quick showers.

We were surrounded by sign, but no deer. The last half hour of daylight, my twelve yr old had a button buck saunter out and begin eating in the KNEE DEEP acorns. We were close together, and I could hear the footfalls. He said it was the smallest deer he had ever seen while hunting, and it was all alone. Still sporting most of the summer "red", with clearly visible spots. Maybe something happened to mama, and he is on his own.

No hunting today for us, there are some things we need to do for mom. Continued good luck to all.

PEARL DRUMS

The rain slowed them down for me last night, and the farmer plowed for the first time in the fall, thats gonna hurt my season a touch. I seen one 3 point that never got close enough. And about 200 woodys walking right through the middle of the woods like turkeys or deer would. Never in 28 years of hunting have I seen anything like it.
