Mike Walkers beautiful Tip brought up a question for me.  What kind of stain do bowyers use to do limbs like that?  Do most of them use the same stains?  Are they the same stains we use for arrows?  Water based or alcohol based?  Certain brands?

I use a water based stain that I buy from Binghams.

Not that I'm an expert.  But I have stained a couple bows that were made of actionboo. I used rit-dye powder mixed with pure alcohol. Even made one look like natural bamboo by taking a cue tip to make the pattern darker till I liked it
