The pack is a Badlands OX. If you need a pack to carry a lot of weight that will do it. I had well over 100 lbs on it more than once this year.

Ok I had a few people ask me about my methods of packing out my elk. I think this is because the only picture I have of that process shows what looks like me carrying only the head out.

I understand the concern that some had with that. Allow me to explain. Anyone that has hunted elk knows that you cannot pack an entire elk anywhere in one trip.

When I harvest an elk I first quarter and bag all of the meat and hang it up to cool. When I leave the kill site that night I try to take all I can with me. In this case we took the back straps and the head. With the head being the most difficult to carry and the back straps the most difficult to hang that was the best choice.

This is a great advantage of the OX pack. The bag extends away from the frame and you can pack meat behind the bag.

The next morning I went in with my girlfriend and three others and we boned and packed out the rest of the meat.

I hope this clears the confusion up.

It's not that Randy is lucky...it's the animals that are UNlucky!
