I got a bottle each of Smokey's Preorbital and some of the Interdigital gland and fixed up a licking branch along the edge of a field. The branch was a low hanging White Oak. I dipped a twig in the bottle and smeared the lure on the lowest area of the branch and put the twig in my pocket. I took another twig and dipped it in the Interdigital and smeared that in the grass below the branch. Realize this is an unmowed pasture field and look at the pics I took 8 days later. Unfortunately I do not have any trailcam pics from this scrape because some piece of garbage stole my camera. I will add some that came from another branch I have going. I took these pictures on September 15 here in northern West Virginia. If you want to know what bucks you have in an area just start a licking branch like this. I have had bucks visiting mine regularly since late August(from my other branch)

   
     
   
 
See the heavy scrape on the left? There is one on the right too but there is still a faint one in
the middle. The entire area of about 7 foot wide is pretty torn up.
 

I've been wanting to try some of Smokys lure myself. Looks like its the real deal.

Yeah he has rutting buck and doe in heat too. The Wensels back him all the way. His lure won the Ohio Big Buck three years in a row(thats how us hillbillys say 3 consecutive years)There is a bunch of info on his webpage.

Smokey is the real deal long time trapper. I bought a good bit from him last week. He helped me through it all.

I'm going to place an order sometime this week.

This is a rub on a 2 3/4 to 3" Black Birch tree that is about 100 to 125 yards from the scrape. I took this picture on the same day as I took pics of the scrape......September 15th.

Steve took your advice a couple weeks back and ordered some , got a dandy 10 first night out , had put the lure at a scrape 2 days earlier . Now not only are you the "Bowmaster " but I"ll remember you as the "Deer Master" also , thanks , Fred

Fred great story! Glad you got to wack a dandy. Once they start comin to the scrape traffic just keeps growing.

Can't wait to see how it goes at my place. I put some preorbital out and had a small 6 point buck come in the first night. Hope the traffic continues and the bigger boys show up.

Time for a bump. I have 264 pictures off of one licking branch in two months. This isn't even the good one that I started the post with. I never got any of those pics because of the camera thief. This one is about tore up too. ANYWHERE you start a licking branch all the bucks will pound it. It appears the same buck hit this three out of four nights in the following pics.

Got my dates screwed up on my camera but this is from the 13th to the 18th. You see there were two bucks in the scrape in 22 minutes.
     
     
     
     
     
   

I "doctored up" several scrapes this past week after getting my Smokey's...I should be able to check most of them this weekend.

Only one has a camera on it though...

Curt...you need more cameras. Laura has her eyes set on a pretty eight pointer so I ordered some of the scent. Hope it works for her as I normally don't pay scents too much regard. If this stuff works I'll be the first to say I was wrong about them. I'm getting some of the pre-orbital and whatever the other one is called. Hopefully it will get here in a few days. Next week's weather looks like it is going to be wet so it may be a while before I can say much about it. Good luck to you all, in any event.
