Nice flops Ben........

Congrats again it was fun.
The old order is passing. Swiftly receding into memory are the days of strong, earnest men who followed an atavistic yearning to pit their skills against wild animals.

You said that right!!!!

I must first say that we had an awesome time. Michael was a great host and has a wondeful place. Thanks again for the invite. I would also like to add that Michaels son woods is one of the most respectful young men I've met to date. He's shooting that widow pretty darn good too. Downloading a couple pics right now so I'll be back.

From the time we arrived we were into pigs. I've never seen that many before in my life. Now mind you, we are rookie pig hunters. I can honestly say I was humbled buy them for sure. There eyes are subject, but their noses are unreal. My only problem was trying to keep them still long enough to get an arrow in them. Wirey critters!
Heres a pic of the stand I was hunting in the evenings. In the intense heat I was glad to be dropped off 15 feet from my stand.

That is about a 16-17 yard shot out of my tree.

I must admit that I was completely off my game this week. I missed a couple hogs(one right under that feeder above) and I can live with that. But to wound one and not find it really bothers me. I know it's part of hunting but I still dont like it. I thought I put a good shot on him but could not find him in the swamps.

In the same tree while the rain was a coming down. I'm smiling cause my tree leaned forward and I barely got wet. Ben didn't fair as well in his.lol

Now I was a little worried when the guy at the hardware store told us about all the snakes in those southern woods. But after about a day (and confidence in my chaps) I really didn't think about them. But these babies were everywhere!!! Good thing I don't mind spiders.

But my disappointment in my shooting this week turned to joy when I got to watch Ben stalk a pig and put a 160 grain snuffer through it. Here he is tracking blood. Now mind you, this area of the swamp was sooooo thick with briars we had to decipher which blood we were following. The pigs or ours!!!
