Let me share a wonderful Oregon public land hunt with you.Two wonderful friends of mine Rod Polson and Ben Parolini. These two guys are members of Legends Bows Pro-staff and are very good friends.Ben was unable to make this hunt with us this year, but made a very good sorce of weather information for us.We would contact him every other day for a weather report.Rod and i left sunny California early on the morning of sept.6.We arrived in camp in Oregon at 6:00pm that same day.Set up camp and hit the sack.At dawn that next morning we set out to hang stands over two wallers found the year before. After the stands were up we hunted that evening. So far we heard no bugles and seemed the rut was not yet kicking off. After a few days of rain, hail and frost at nights we felt like it should be close at hand.Still no bugles were heard.I did try but with no answer. We set stands about 6 hrs every evening over the un-hit wallers. On 9-11 all this was about to change.Rod and i headed to our trees about 3:00pm.I got set up in my stand at about 4:00pm and played a few games on my electronic Yahtzee game.At about 5:45pm half way through my yahtzee game i heard something up on the side hill.I looked up and my heart jumped when i saw a monster 6x6 bull side hilling about 100 yrds to my left.I reached down and hit my hoochy moma call 3 times. The bull stopped and then turned my way.He then started my way.Within a minute he was almost on top of me.As his head went behind a large pine i drawed back. When he past the pine he was within 15yrds.I picked a spot in the middle of his massive ribcage and dumped the string. The arrow buried up to my lime feathers.I hung my bow up and seat down.I did this for two reasons, one i thought i would drop my bow and second i thought i would fall down.My partner Rod had showed up late evening and ended up with me with the bull down.We were both going nuts. From punching each other to hugging each other. We both thought of our buddy Ben back home and only wished he could be with us to celebrate this awesome bull god had gifted me with. This bull is a bull of a life time for me,and a memory for a life time.I want to thank god,my wife, family and Rod(the pack mule)for such a wonderful hunt.
