Well after bugging South 24/7, he finally broke down and built me a 56" recurve.  I really want him to keep it in his line up.  All that is needed are positive responses from the gang.

Would you or do you shoot a 56" 3 pc recurve?

I'll be posting pics along with informal data that compares both the 56" and 58" Stalker Recurve.

At my draw length, I couldn't shoot something that short but, it sure is a looker! Congrats on your new bow.      :clapper:

I would and do shoot both a 56 onepiece and a three piece. Its a great size bow when built right and can handle a fairly long draw. That riser is really nice. I'd love to see that at a 28 in draw. God Bless and great looking bow. Steve

Stephen-
I did some testing today with draw lengths and poundage from 25"-28".  I'll post the results soon.  So far the results mirror South's 58" model.

I'll post a pic at a 28" draw tomorrow.

One thing you can be sure of, it will be QUALITY BUILT. South really builds a nice bow. I'm very happy with my Surge model at 58". I'll bet the design at 56" will still be a winner.

My draw length of 25.5" accomodates a 56" bow. One of my bows is a Bear TD Supreme with A riser and #1 limbs--a 56" bow.

I considered haveing Schafer make me a silvertip in 56" (they've made 3-4 of them in the past). I decided on a 58" because of the Beth and Dave's recommendation that the sight window would be so tiny I might not like it.

However, the sight window on my Bear is only about 3.5 inches and it is fine.

Frankly, I've been ignoring these great Stalker posts because I don't want to be turned on to another custom -- I've gone off the deep end as it is. This 56" offering is VERY INTERESTING!

I have a Fox High Sierra and a Blacktail. The Stalker reminds me of some of the good features of bowh.

By the way, those two woods (coco and ebony) are favorites of mine. The silvertip I have on order I'm considering Charcoal Dymonwood and Coco. Now I'm wondering, if the ebony is as heavy ad Dymonwood changing my order.

A 56" bow would be perfect for my 26" draw length. I shoot a 54" RER Arroyo with no problems. I really like the shape of the Stalker riser. South builds some sweet looking bows.

26"   52.3#
27"   55.3#
28"   58.3#

52.3# @ 26"   175fps (ave)  448gr arrow

7 3/8" brace (both bows)
9/16" nock pt (both bows)
Easton digital scale attached scale under arrow nock for weight measurement.
Shot finger release and used a prochrono for speed measurement.

Pound  for pound, the two bows should shoot at the same speed. The 1 pound difference in weight between the two should account for the 2-3 fps difference.  The draw from 25"-28" is almost identical with about 3lbs per inch of draw.

Exactly right and nice profile. Those are identical perfromance figures. God bless and looks great , Steve

Wannabe1, I do not know how ya can make a state ment like that without all info on the bow!! I shoot a 54" recurve that will handle 31-32" draw without stacking or finger pinch. I would love one in either a 1 piece or 3 piece!! Shawn

Roy,
Yup Coco & Ebony is sweet!
It's only my onpinion but ebony does seem a touch heavier than the average riser wood material.

I was about to test drive one of his bows, but I just do not need to spend the money right now. My next recurve will probably be one of the Stalker bows. That is one nice looking bow you have there.

Buckeye Trad Hunter

I shoot a one piece 56" and yes I would shoot a 3 piece 56".

Jesse Minish

I think a 56" bow would be a great addition to his line up! I love short recurves.

D Harris

I just called to talk with him regarding a bow, I guess he has been chasing elk the past week or two. I will have to see if he would make another 56" as I draw 25". I love it!!
