Hi All!
First poster, but been reading for a while. Living in Norway and have been doing trad archery for about a year and a half. Been shooting a Tomahawk SS longbow, and got a 56", 49@28 Mojostik in the mail from JD today. A sweet bow. The limbs are spalted beach. The riser is padauk and osage. It has Mule Deer antler tips. Been tuning it with with help from SveinD today, and have got some questions:
What is the preferred brace height for these bows?
Mine is at 7 1/2 now and looks about right, also tried 7 1/4 and that worked as well.
Nocking point: do you nock over or under? And how high do you set it for this type of bow? Having some trouble finding the sweet spot, but will keep on shooting it the rest of the day   ;)

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Shoot JD a email, he would be the one to help you most. As for me, nock under with tied on nock.

I have a 56" Mojo as well.  They are a bit touchy and if you have any flaw in your form or release they will show you.  Man they are great shooters and real lookers though.  May just be that you need to get used to the shorter bow.  BTW my brace is set at 7 1/2 as well.

Thanks for replies and welcomes!
Been out in the woods all all day shooting my new bow, it is fast and very accurate. Think the tuning will work out just fine, it is already getting better. And nice to walk around with a 56" in the forest:)
I often bring my camera with me when we are out shooting, so I will post some pictures of the Norwegian nature and its bowshooters from time to time.

Buckeye- Yes, I believe that it will. Should be a good way for me to work on my form then. I agree it is beautiful and shoots where I look. Øivind

Welcome.  My first custom was a 56" Mojostik. Great bow, and I didn't find it all the hard to shoot well until my form change, draw length got a lot longer, and the bow was too heavy of draw for me.  JD says from about 7-8" if I recall correctly and he shoots his at 8" or a hair more.  I liked 7 1/2".  If your arrow will move up and down at all on the string, use a nock above and below.  Electrical tape makes good temporary nocks.

Good to finally see you posting, but beware, it's addictive  :)

I'll send you the videos we took today, and post a link when I upload a collaboration on the tube!

Awesome bow!  I will be getting almost the same bow just 58" 55@28.  I'll have the same limb wood and my riser will have padauk and zebra wood.  My last Whisperstik was braced at 7 3/4 and it shot great!

xtrema- My first custom as well:) Using tape now for nocking point. The bow seems to like it quite high. Brace height is just below 7 1/2, but think I will be raising it.
JackP- Good luck with your new bow, I sure dig mine!
SveinD- after reading a lot on this forum it is nice to contribute as well. Thanks for the help today!

Can we see more pic's of your limbs?  The veneers look interesting, but I can't really see the grian so well in the full lenght shot.  I have never seen spalted beach.

Hay where are your big fur silencers?  I though all JD's bows came with them.  They work very well on his bows.
