I always keep some broadheads ready to go for that impromtu hog hunt, but recently found myself with only a couple ready to hunt!     With deer season opening this weekend, and me off for bears the next, I figured I better get my heads ready!  Here are some 1 1/8" and 1 1/4" VPAs, and three 1 1/2" Big Jims.  All had to be sharpened, but three already had the bevels right (no filing).  In an hour, I had all nine shaving sharp.

I start with a 16" mill bastXXX file and then a three sided stone system available at Lowes.  Sometimes I finish with a ceramic stick.  I use side walk chalk for the file, because it's all I could find.  Works like a charm!

I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

Looks like some good hog and deer medicine to me!  Good luck this weekend! How do you sharpen the back edges Marty?

Marty, it looks like your ready for any unlucky critter that steps into your zone!            I've been sharpening a head or 2 every night before bed the last few nights so when I finally get a break from school and homework I'll be ready to hunt.
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

Over&Under

Good idea on the sidewalk chalk!  I will have to try that.
