Anyone have any experience near Kipton, Oberlin or anywhere close like maybe Wellington or Elyria as far as timing. Opening, or wait till November like the other Ohio threads. It may be moot since I usually only get out early or near Christmas, but any thoughts would be helpful.
Seems like bucks everywhere in July & August, but only a few in Sept. Never really tried Nov.
What about that youth Gun on the 20th, that bother the local deer much.
Sorry if I rambled on a bit.
Thank you

Steve
It is entirely different than what I am used to.
Flatter and no big woods, lots of fields of corn & soy beans surrounded by hedge rows. I don't see the quantity of Central New York but definitly quality when I do spot them.

there is plenty of deer in our state.i can take 4 in my county alone.those hedge rows are a great ambush point.if you look around the state you will find lots of woods.look down in the south east part of the state.good luck buddy, steve

My inlaws have plenty of land in that area so it is an easy walk while visiting. Funny thing is that the really big ones are closer to the urban areas, though occasionally a monster has been taken nearby. Most of the locals seem to be more into muzzleloaders and drives so I just have to figure it out myself.
I know Ohio has a lot to offer, but for now I will stick to the backyard walks.Phil

you are right about monsters in the back yard.the town next to mine is a no hunting what so ever zone.there is a deer that hangs out by some factories that is as big as a mule deer.i have counted 14 points.it is one of the biggest deer i have ever seen.a brother in-law who doesn't even hunt said he saw an elk.i told him there is no elk in ohio.then i went and saw this deer myself.it's no elk but it is the biggest deer i have ever seen.to bad he is in town and cannot be hunted.ohio has alot of areas like this.i am sorry i couldn't help you.if you have access in south east ohio you should have some good hunting areas.also ohio has urban deer permits.check into that.check with the odnr.com.this might help you.good luck, steve
