Has anybody recently seen anybody selling those silver disc shaped skwerl calls ?  I would like to try to locate one but haven't seen them lately.  Wanna try it.

I believe they are called squirrel whistles. They imitate ayoung squirrel in distress they work usually the females are the ones that respond to it. I have a chucker that has squirrel whistle in it don't remember who makes it.

I think that is what it is.  Anybody seen them for sale lately ?  Anybody have any experience with them ?

I believe what you're talking 'bout is "Haydels Mr. Squirrel Whistle Model SW-92" Several places sell 'em on line.

I've heard of people making them out of two bottle caps.  I'll see if I can find anything about building them online.

All I could find was a story about how MR Haydel made his 1st call with two RC cola caps but it didn't sound just right.  Lots of places on the net to buy his call though.

Funny thing about the 2 bottle caps is I heard about it when I was a boy.  That was pre home computer days for sure.  Not sure who told me about it but has me wondering now.

What Jim said, if you get on the Haydels site you'll find what your looking for! Jason

From experience, they work great! Not everytime, but when they do,,, look out. I had a big red one come out of a corn field carrying a whole cob in its mouth, that ran right up to my feet before dropping the cob and running of with my arrow chasing him.
I really like the call. Adding some rustling leaves or slamming a small sapling to the ground enhances the effectiveness of the call. Makes it sound as though an owl or something has a young treerat in its grips.
