A.S.

I took on the task of putting skins on my ACS this week. While I had it torn down I managed to do some trading around of risers. I sold my wood riser and bought a new aluminum riser from A&H. I have always liked the feel of a heavier bow, so I really wanted to try this riser out.  I just got everything put back together, and it is great!!  I totally love the added weight of the riser...and the skins don't look bad either!!

Sweet, I have ann alum riser w diamondbacks.  :campfire:

i am not a big fan of snake skins, but man do those look great or what  :D
i dont think i ever saw a better looking combination of bow and arrows.

could someone explain, what the riser is?
i feel really really dumb asking that, but i it seems like i can find no proper translation in the dictionary that would fit a part of a bow. :-)

ugh, english's hard hehe.

ps:
your target looks interesting, whats stuffed into that bag? is it still the middle part of the 3d-target?

Looper

Finq,
The riser is the handle part of the bow. It's what you grip and what the limbs bolt to.  In this case, it is made of aluminum.

Does that answer your question?

A.S.

Thanks guys, it really does look and shoot great!

Fing, the target is a Morrell Bionic Buck. The kill section is basically a bag target. Every year or so I just have to replace the burlap cover.

Great job and beautiful outcome.

The skins look great. I have an old Bear TD I would like to skin but fear I would make the limbs look worse trying to get the things to lay straight.

Nice bow and great shooting!

What did you use to "coat" the skins with? Tru-oil or something else? # coats?  Thanks.

I used 5 coats of Tru-oil (steel wool between coats). Then I sprayed 3 light coats of Krylon Matte Finish (this stuff is great!)to cut the shine.

Skins look really good Allen. I have an ACS but I like the wood / phenolic combo for weight. I thought the metal riser was a bit too heavy when adding a bow quiver. I need more arrows in my quiver than you do    :D

Good luck to you this season, I'm heading out for elk on Tuesday...
