I just received a few dozen cedar shafts and want to give them a try again. I used to use them around 30 years ago. Back then I used Fletch Tite in a tube for the nocks and fletching. I would use Fletch Tite hot melt for the tips. Is that still the best for cedars today.

Those glues are still effective for cedars but so is Duco and fletch tape.

I think the fletch tite platinum is pretty good but Duco for feathers and nocks is sho nuff good. Readily available at Family Dollar, Ace Hardware, O'Reilly auto parts, etc, etc. $1-2 a tube too. JMHO

I love Duco but hate the tip on the tube. I cut mine off just above the threads and screw on the plastic tube off a used fletch tite tube. Now you have the perfect setup...............James

I use the fletch tape for my woodies, works like a charm!!!!!!!!!

I use Hot Melt for the points, Fletch Tite for nocks and Fletch Tape for the fletching. If you haven't tryed the tape, it is faster than glueing the fletch.

Thanks for the info. I never tried the tape. Can you get a dozen fletched 5.5" per pack of the tape? How long do you have to wait after you fletch using the tape?

The roll of tape will do several dozen arrows. As soon as you fletch a feather turn arrow do the next etc. Dab the ends with glue let dry and shoot.

Since I use this epoxy (for two years now) on all my woodies, I never had a loose point.

Fletch tite is the best, just prime the end of the shaft with flech tite spred it with your finger, it will seal the wood before you put the nocks and points on.

I agree, the tip sucks for fletching arrows, but the glue is awesome. I have not had any problems so far with my fletching coming off or even lifting up on the ends. I had thought about pinching the tip part way closed with some plyers but it would be my luck that it would get clogged up all the time.

fletchtite or duco...

i use fletch tape with dabs of duco on the front and back of the feather to prevent grass from sliiping up under the feather. I use to use duco for my heads but whenever it got cold i started loosing to many points in my target so e switched to hot melt for the heads and nock.

Hi Gil, for woodies I like FletchTite for feathers and nocks and Devcon 2-part 5 minute epoxy for points.  Started with hot melt years ago and it mostly worked well but I found that the epoxy is easier to apply and much stronger/less brittle under the cold conditions we get here.

Bohning finishes and Fletchite are a unique formulation that work very well together within their own family, but they don't generally play well with others.  Fletchtite works great if you are using Bohning products to finish your shafts.  With a polyurethane finish, Duco is my glue of choice.  Fletchtite Platinum and Saunders NPV will also work with the poly.  Yeah, the Duco tube tip is way too big, that is why I use and sell the glue bottle with the long tip.

For points, I have come to really like the Kimsha Stick hot melt over regular Ferruletite.  If you aren't going to be changing the points, slow set epoxy is hard to beat.
