Well, the farmer who lets me hunt on his place is going to be bringing in more cows again. Last year it was pretty crowded there and the deer just seemed to be not around. This year he has added to the herd so it looks like the "slow elk" will be be even thicker on the land.
Makes it tough hunting between the hoof tracks, brush crunching and havin them follow or run when they see ya...  :dunno:

Find another spot. Had the same thing happen to me before. It's not going to get better.

It can be tough, how big is the area that you are hunting?

I hate slow elk in my hunting area. Noisy, crapping on everything, and dumber than a pen full of sheep. If I were you, I would try to find a place elsewhere.

I hate hunting around cows, but it's waaaaay better than sheep and goats. Good luck to you.

It's a 1/4 section both wooded and pasture Lucas K.
The cows have free range throughout and tend to stay in the trees to get out of the wind if it's cold. The farmer next door is leasing his ground too this year so my options are drying up...

If you have an area you want to hunt and the farmer will let you you could string up an electric fence. I have done this before they make a poly tape with stainless steel wires in it on a big reel and it doesn't take long to put it out with fiberglass post. The hard part is putting in a good ground rod. We use a lot of these portable enclosures for horses and to keep cows out of areas on our ranch. They even make a small charger that will run a month or so on d cells. Could fence off an area around some acorn sources.
