Who has shot St Joe River longbows at the different lengths and how did they compare?

I have a draw length of 27.

Can't help ya but, got to say, St Joe bows are top notch and you won't find a better couple to deal with than Dave/Tracey! These bows are supper smooth and I shoot mine better than anything I've touched to date. Mine is 64" as I have a 29" draw.

My draw is 27 3/4 and I love my 60 inch longbow. A longer riser and shorter working limb I feel is better for draws under 28 inches. The 58 inch I used last fall shot great. Up till then I was a fan of 62 inch bows. 60 is the best of both worlds.   :cool:  

For comparison it's kind tough. I shoot both very well and didn't notice much of a difference other than length. For a pop-up blind the 58 would be better. The 60 inch feels a little smoother through the draw cycle. 62 is buttery smooth but at my draw I don't feel I was getting as much out of the longer bow than someone with a longer draw would.

I would suggest a 58 or 60 inch to get maximum performance. The shorter working limb and long riser gives you a quicker bow and limb response for draws less than 28 inches.

Here is a video of that exact bow! I had it in my hands less than an hour and placed 2nd at the GLLI turkey shoot. Serious mojo!!    :cool:

Read Viper's book and you can answer the question for yourself.  Longer is better.  Smoothness has nothing to do with it.  It's string angle.

Todd is very correct longer is alway's more accurate in all bows not just ours. So when are building you a new one Todd ?

I shot a 60 inch and 62 inch at our UBI banquet and preferred the 62 of course I draw 28 inches to. Flint

I did forget to mention that the short recurves will take a long draw, they are a whole different set-up. I think there was a guy drawing the 54 incher 30 inches at K-zoo and it shot great.
