Cool feeling picture!

Checked the NPS website after I wrote my comment, it says the trail starts in Georgia. Just seems like you would want to go north to south so you were going downhill.    But the temp thing makes sense.

I love the mountains..... to be honest I've only seen them a whoopin 3 times lol. This sounds odd but I think rocks are the prettiest things, We dont have rocks around here. sand yup, ocean check, skeeters big enuff rape a humminbird by the truckload, but no rocks.
