Hi All,

This bow I have finished this weekend. The bow is 62" long with a pull of 50 lbs @28".
It has a bamboo backing and a zebra wood belly under clear glass. As core I used a parallel bi-directional fibre glass strip glued to a tapered maple strip.
The riser is made of zebra wood and bubinga with an accent made of a black phenol/osage/black phenol strip. The riser centre is made of inland oak.

Thanks guys for your nice comments.

Some more specs: The tips are ~ 0.3" wide at the string groove and 1.25" long. The bow limbs are ~1" at the riser fade.

Aram, there is no glass on the backing, just plain bamboo. However there is a glass strip glued to the bamboo backing strip and used as core together with the tapered maple strip. This combo makes the bow quite fast.

I really like your bows V !!!! But i'm confused here.....

Could you clarify this?   If there is no glass on the backing.... AND a glass strip glued to the bamboo backing strip..... AND used as a core with the maple strip....where exactly is this glass...

Are you are you saying you have a glass belly....a maple taper, then another layer of glass, THEN the bamboo backing?  If so....what's the point????? why not put the glass on the back for more durability?   Kirk

KirkII,

I used the bi-directional glass strip to get stability and prevent torqeuing. Also I wanted to leave the bamboo backing as much "natural" as possible, so no glass there.
I sanded the nodes a bit to smoothen the sharp edges.
The picture shows the layer details.

How fast things can turn out.
Saturday a guy called me to buy some arrow making stuff from me. He came in today and saw this bow hanging on the rack. He asked me if he could shoot it just for fun and I agreed. I gave him some 2016 Legacy's (440 gr) to shoot with. The minute he dropped an arrow in the target he was hooked, he was amazed about the arrow speed and accuracy. The more arrows he shot, the more he "fell in love" with this bow and in the end he wanted to buy it.
Although I did not want to sell this bow in the first place as I want to keep it for a while to shoot this bow myself, he persisted and I went soft on him and sold it to him. Anyway today I made another trad-shooter guy happy.
