Well, there I was; out back in 'the woods'. I had my trusty 40+ yr old Red Wing in hand. Back pocket had two extra arras; and the third was resting quietly on the original rug rest.

Now the arras: 55-70 cabela's carbons,28" and 495 grains, 100grn brass, 125 gr bludgeons from (3 Rivers) and cut to Manny's Tarantula specs are specially customized by a rank amateur arrow smith(me) and the string is an excellent 12 strand specimen by Champion Bowstrings (Thanx Chad) The bow is shushed by Bow Hush and Hush Puppies (Thanx Terry).

Anyway, I was out for an afternoon stroll and stump/leaf whackin' adventure, when I noticed that the wood pile had the jitters!

So, I start sneakin' up on the wood pile and low and behold....shhhh, a chipmunk, no 2, no 5 chipmunks!!!

I raise the bow arm staring intently at the one closest to me and whoosh, away goes my arra, dang it! a bit low. But what a whack on the pile, hehe. And it was all brown blurs of gone chipmunks. Well that was how the fun started. Then another , and another...and so on.

Then, when it was gettin' to be a game of will power. Could I stand the strain of trying and not connecting longer than they could stand the fun of making me miss?

Well, I didn't quit  and with number 21, I got my first recurve blooded !!

Thanks to all you guys and gals who knowingly, or not, gave good advice and enouragement to keep at it

p.s. I forgot to say Thanx to Manny!

Thanks guys! I think they'd be a bit easier, but not as fun; with a pellet gun and a scope at 15 to 20 yds. I started that far out. 5 yds was the final distance.
I learned bunches about gettin small, movin slow, and shootin from and at different angles yesterday.
Ground hogs and moles are on the list next..........
