a few weeks ago i had a string break on me ( it was one bundle of a two bundle string) so i understand strings can break i order two more strings so i had one for back up well with less than a week of shooting the new string is just about broke again in the same place.  Its right on the upper loop where the lop sits in the tip grove seems to me there must be a rough spot there is it safe for me to try and sand it myself or is tha ta very bad idea?  I dont want to send it to the bower season is less than a month away any ideas on how to fix this issue?  

Try a folded piece of sand paper, or small round file

Use 400 grit if you sand.  Check for a sharp edge, and in a worse case scenario, look for lamination seperation and loose tips.  Bill

Forgot to mention, after you get it where you want it, be sure to spray a little spar urethane or other finish on the tip.

Fine steel wool will work as well.

Even a square corner is hard on strings, look it over carefully, sand it smooth and shoot a lil finish on it!
