How many tradgangers arehitting the ground this year using gullie suits and do you think you will be  sucessful

Greg Clark

I am planning on doing more ground hunting this year with my ASAT 3D suit.  Not sure how successful it will be but ought to be fun.

flatlander37

I don't have a ghillie suit, but have hunted the ground off and on before.  Have had some success, but get busted due to movement.  Ghillie suit would be nice, but most of them aren't cheap.

**DONOTDELETE**

I'm planning on being 99.9% on the ground this year.

kill shot

I hunt from ground level 50% of the time. I have good good luck shooting deer from the ground. Well it aint all luck, after all I tried to do it.

Ragnarok Forge

I always hunt on the ground, the Shaggy suit works wonders.  I used Ghillies in the Army and the worked wonders to.   You can make one cheap using dyed burlap, some mesh netting and a waist length jacket.  RIT dye comes in a lot of good colors.

I'm gonna be on the ground this year.  I made some ghillie gloves, I'm almost done with my ghillie hat and then I'm gonna try to make a ghillie jacket out of a cheap XXL camo shirt I got at Wally world.  If it doesn't work out I'll buy a ghillie jacket.
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

When I first started trad hunting I did both(tree & Ground) and had good luck from the ground.I want to try it again and I am so figitve any more I don't know if it would work for me again. There is nothing like the rush that happens when you take one from the ground.Maybe this year with my 54" Morrison there might be a ground attack...
You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.Book of John

pick a spot stupid!

Mudd

!00% on the ground unless I find a short cliff to over look a trail  or a fallen tree truck to climb up on.

On-bow-blind and my shaggie longcoat with the wind in my face.

The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

2010 Season will be Shaggie and ground pounding or sitting in ambush.

Hunt both ways, more from a tree, but the best buck encounters last couple times have been from ground level! Guess they aren't ready for that angle! LOL
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Mostly on the ground, but I won't rule out a tree stand either.

I hunt on the ground. It's hard getting this fat a$$ up a tree. Besides it more fun.
I try not to let my mind wander...It is too small and fragile to be out by itself.

Not even going to put up a stand this year! Made a ghillie suit we'll see how it goes.

with the proper hunting ethics and richer for the experience, that hunter is 20

Saltydog

I start hunting less and less out of trees about 2 years ago and it has rejuvenated my predator instincts. The adrenaline flows faster and earlier with my ground encounters. My success rate has dropped but the fun factor makes it a more enjoyable (for me) hunt.
I've learned that walk in the woods with my father as a child did wonders for me as an adult.

Mojostick

I'll be on the ground 100% of the time. I'm giving my old treestands to my buddies.

I use Day One ASAT light fleece when warm and Day One ASAT wool when cold enough.

Being from Michigan, the heaviest bowhunted state, my property is in the heaviest pressured county. So, there's as much hunting pressure in my area as in anywhere in the nation.

Knowing that, I recommend using a lot of natural cover around you, if hunting similar pressured area's. If in an area with low to moderate hunting pressure, you can get away with a lot more. But you need 3-4 times cover than you might think if hunting area's with very heavy hunting pressure.
Last year, I killed a buck and a doe at 14-15 yards using natural ground cover/branches/logs.

JEJ

Like I did last year, this year again going to carry my "turkey blind" (camo fabric over paracord clothesline held up by some old 2117s) and a lightweight folding chair. This is a very lightweight blind I can easily move to always be downwind if wind shifts, even during the same morning/evening hunt. I hunker down behind it with only my camo face and cap showing. Didn't get busted by several close and upwind deer last year with it, but no shots either. Hope to remedy that in about six weeks here in TX! Come on October!         :archer:
