I've got a little boy about to turn 7 that wants a new bow for his b-day.  He fell in love with a $350 youth recurve at Cabela's but I told him his dad was not that rich.

3Rivers has a few, but they seem too big for him.

I'm hoping for $100 or less, and used is fine.  Anyone have one that has been outgrown?  Or know of a place to look?

Thanks, all.

Check out Elk Ridge Archery youth bows.   I have one that my youngest grandchild is starting to shoot.  It was in your price range 5 or 6 years ago.

Jeepers, Dad, I had solid fiberglas until I was fifteen.

Look for a Bear Little Bear recurve on the auction site after checking the classifieds here. Most are 20#@24". He won't be pulling 24" yet so it will be less than 20# for him.

Mike is the man. I bought my son Joey a Maddog pup recurve 20#@21" when he was 7. Joey is now 10 and still loves his Maddog. When Purchaced the bow Mike set us up with arrows to.

Not trying to take any business away from anyone, but I just built a bow for my 5 year old son from 1/4" red oak from Lowe's.  It was a relatively simple project, just a pyramid design with a glued on handle.  Shoots pretty good, but I haven't put in on a scale yet.

Might be a $$$ saving option for you.

My little man loves his Mad Dog.  He turned 8 yesterday!

Like sunshine,I started my 3 kids shooting a Black Rhino 9# long bow, then got two 15# long bows, one left and one right. My youngest is 9 years old and still shoots 15#B.R.All three bows held up great.Still use them to teach the occasional youngster.

Lost an eb*y auction on a Bear Little Bear #15.  It went for $69, plus $15 shipping!  That seems high to me- but it was a really pretty little bow.

Wife and I talked and would really like to keep the $$ well under $100, so likely a new bow is out of the question.

That self-bow idea seems worth considering.

Thanks for all the banter here everyone.
