Hi I'm a new Guy here an was looking for some guidance. I have a navajo2 recurve 54@28 I shoot cx 150 heritage an was wanting to bump up my arrow weight with 100gr brass inserts. My question is should I go to 250s or you think I would be fine with 150s.thanks for any info

What is your draw length? And what weight head do you want to shoot.

Jd Maschino

I draw a shade under 28 an would like to shoot 125 to 150gr head I've shot woodsman's the last few years but have had durability issues so I'm shopping around now

You'll need to go to the 250's and probably cut about 1/2 inch off of them.  Not knowing your exact draw length or what arrow length you are shooting makes it hard to say, but the 150's will definatly be too week if you add another 100 up front.

Get your actual draw length and what length arrow you want to use and then try this link to Stu's spine calculator.  It will get you really close if not dead on.

Buckeye is right, if you go to the carbon express website you will see you are in the 250 range. I shoot 2 different TD longbows one at 54# at 31" and the other at 59# at 31" and both get good flight with full length carbon express 250's, 145 grain broadhead and the 100 grain inserts. DK.

My arrows are 29in I'm drawing 27 3/4 since going to this lighter bow I've been having lack luster penatration I'm I'm hoping the heavier arrow will help

The 150's weigh 10 grains per inch while the 250's weigh 11, that will give you around 29 more grains, but more importantly is you could very well be underspined with the extra 100 grain inserts upfront and the poundage you are shooting, the extra weight up front is definatly a good thing in my opinion giving you a better position of FOC, or (forward of center) with your set up, I think you will be pleased with the 250's, and more importantly is of coarse the better tuning you get the straighter the arrow will enter your target thus much better penetration.
