Seems no-one wants to buy, so what the heck, been trading, not being a recurve guy anymore, just received this older HABU "Mamushi" she looks all but New, shoots like a dream, 1998 model, I can only imagine what his stuff is like now, who knows, maybe I'll even keep it ...

David Mitchell

Ha! Fat chance of that happening, Adam.  I know you too well   :saywhat: .  Enjoy it....never heard of a Mamushi   "[dntthnk]" .

My dad always told folks that I'd rather work a "horse trade" than eat when I was hungry.

Anybody that knows me knows I don't miss many meals.

With me it's kinda like being a bowaholic, I mean when that strong urge to do some trading hits it has to be dealt with.

There are days I'd trade for a brush pile if I could get you to throw in the matches to burn it with..lol

Trading can be an art form and a very demanding skill that ranks up there with Texas Hold'em..lol

I tell my friends that come to trade to make sure they have their trading hat on and to bring their "A" game..lol

every time i trade i get the short end of the stick.thats why i just started giving stuff away.then i don't feel so bad.every time i trade something,i start wanting it back.when i give something away i never feel bad about the transaction.i have 46 or more guns i am about to sell off.i don't want to but i've fell on bad times.i know the moment i get rid of one i will regret it.it's took me my whole life to get this many.i want to buy a take down recurve,so i have to do what i have to do.sorry for going on an on but i just want you to know be careful before you trade, you may want it back.

Mudd

If it's just a take-down recurve you're needing just send me your mailing address and I'll send you one. It was made by a friend of mine and shoots just fine. I will have to measure and weigh it to give you the specs.

I supplied him the walnut to build the riser. Like I said not a beauty but definitely a good bow.

Mudd you are the man, no selfishness in your life. Thumbs up for you!!!!

Mudd

cKanous, I hate to say it but "no selfishness in your life"...lol buddy I got a few folks fooled...lol Just ask my wife and daughter. I usually tend to be just about like everyone else I know in that "I want what I want and I want it now!"

I have to struggle to be an "over-comer" of my own selfishness and so often fail miserably.

I have the same struggle shooting my bows. I know what a good shot is and I so much want to be one and yet I fail so often but the thing that I love best about it is I can retrieve my arrows and try again. Ain't archery great????

Most of the time I have to get outside help doing both of these things..lol

I would enjoy trading stuff I think but seems like I get attached to about every bow that I get, so I wind up being a collector rather than a horse trader   :) .

I too have gotten to the point where I would generally prefer to give things away rather than trying to trade.
The reason being, over a life time of experience, most people I encountered (in a trading environment) were more interested in "getting over" on someone, rather than a fair and honest trade.  Someone honest and up-front was very rare indeed.
Some will say that is just old fashioned "horse trading".  Maybe so, but it isn't the way I chose to lead my life.  Subsequently, most everything I acquire is purchased new.
No disrespect is intended towards the many fine people we have on this Forum.

In my opinion both parties have to be happy or its "no trade"! With that as a parameter trading is usually fun for me. Sure there are times I get the better deal. then there are times I don't but I've never but once been uphappy with a trade. I blame myself for that one. I heard what I wanted to hear.

I had a cased out tanned fisher hide which I  traded for a "bear" bone handled knife but later found out it was out of a cow. I asked about it and he told me the truth. The truth was in fact the bone had come from a cow and it was in fact a "bare" bone handled knife that I was no longer very proud of..lol

I find it interesting that guys attracted to trad tend to like trading.  What is that all about?  Sufficiency?? Even generosity?? Maybe there is a tie to why we like to make some of our own equipment etc.  ???

Something adventurous and even virtuous at the heart of it I suspect.

With the current economy the only way I can supply my habit is by trading. I usually go backwards but love to keep them moving.

I'm not a big bow trader, but over the last few years I've made a few trades that I would say I likely lost "money" on, but I'm much happier bow wise.  In particular I now have a Pronghorn 3 pc and a Griffin Tsunami that I like a lot better than the bows I traded away.

Mudd

Fletcher that's what I'm getting at. The monetary value we place on things are not totally to be ignored but it isn't the driving factor behind any or at least most of the trades I make.

Sometimes I'll trade for something that I already know I don't want but I think it's a good trade item to have.

If both parties are happy, money is the last thing on our minds.

Hey Mudd,
I've got a worthless hound that actually ran away from the bear we was huntn.  Old Slough Foot raised up on his back legs and jist scared the bark out of that pup.
I'm sure he isn't worth salt but ifn you really want him that bad, and seein's how your practically shoving that brand new double barrel 20 gauge in my face, I suppose we could make the trade.  Now remember, I told you that he isn't any good.  (Hee hee hee)

Mudd

Hmm Chris, let's think this through a bit. Why don't we start off by just shooting the dog and using him for bear bait and I'll half the hide with you iffen we get the bear.

Mudd,  If you can find your arrows to retrieve you are a pretty good shot!

I don't mind the trading, but it seems lately the bows I want are all "no trades".
Blessed are the peacemakers
