Can anyone offer a comparison between the Eberlestock: "X2" vs. the Bison Gear: "Lost River?" I'm looking for a comfortable day pack that I can stalk with but can hold an extra sweater etc. for those cold days.

Steve, I have the X2 and love it for a hunting pack. It allows me plenty of room for drawing the bow. It also has plenty of room and with the shelf you can come out with a load of meat. They are built tough with pockets that are well thought out. With the two side pockets you can put 2 water bladders in if you want.  Great pack.

I personally love my Bison Gear, it has been with me everywhere I have ventured in the past 8 or so years and it is still as good as new and I have darn sure tested it!  Besides that they are traditionalist themselves which speaks volume to me!

I got my X2 from our own Whip/Prarie Traditions here on TG and have been thoroughly pleased with this pack.  I hauled my Oregon elk out last year and was impressed with how well this dude performed in the field.

I have been using my X2 the past 2 years and couldn't ask for more in a pack. It does everything I need.  No experience with the Bison Gear pack but I am it is an excellent pack also.

I don't own and X2 but have looked them over and I do have a Lost River. It really depends on how much you plan on packing out. The Lost River has an excellent game bag that comes out of pack and I have packed out a number of critters deboned in it. If you are planning on hauling big loads such as elk/moose/caribou over big distance then you will be better off with a larger internal frame pack.

Doc, sounds great or maybe we can do some scouting and I'll carry the packs!    :D   I'd forgotten you had both but I remember you had the E2 in Texas last February. I take it that worked well and would be your preference for that type of trip?

Amicus, there is lots of ways to strip a strung bow onto it.
