I plan to 60% from some sort of natural blind, maybe more if I'm seeing game on regular basis. I like to scout and take time to make some hides, sometimes I do it when I stump shoot!

I'll be hanging one stand this year but the rest of my hotspots I'll be building natural ground blinds.  I prefer to hunt on the ground and now that I'll be hunting my old stomping grounds in WV again I plan to spend 90 percent of my time in a natural ground blind.

I have several different ones:
- a few are in old fence rows
- one is an old junkyard with a few cars and old farm trucks
- one is in an overgrown orchard
- I have a handfull made from blowdowns

Of course I haven't hunted them for a long time so I'll probably have to completely rebuild them.
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

I have 4 ready to go, deer in front of them every day. I have been watching mine from 150-200 yards, had 4  bucks in front of one at 15 yards last week!

I almost always always do, Ian....I know I won't be as successful as a treestand hunter but there's nothing quite like being at eye level with a deer at 12 yards.  If after I've scouted an area and I like a spot that's a little sparse in terms of nautal blinds, I will carry a piece of leafy camo netting in my pack.

I find it really effective when I can stick some branches down through the leafy holes and into the ground in fron of me. Especially wha I have a nice wide tree to lean against. Of course, the real key is being able to sit still. I've taken deer on the ground while I had no blind but was sitting rock solid still with a wide tree to my back.

I gave up treestand hunting.  I strictly hunt from the ground now in a Lucky's Blind, or just concealed good with my Rancho Safari Shaggie suit.

I will often, I carry my haul twin and when on the ground tie it and hang/place branches on it or use zip ties to hold them in place and have a large tree behind me for additional break up.

twitchstick

I have a couple build so far.

Thick brush in my area.  The whole forest is a ground blind around here.

This will be the first year for my wife and myself to hunt from a ground blind. Using a Gilley suit and looking forward to an exciting season..............James

Since I'll be hunting mainly on public land I am going to forego the treestands this year and stick to hunting from the ground.

with the proper hunting ethics and richer for the experience, that hunter is 20

Im going to try to give up the trees this year and do it with a recurve from the ground.

One of my spots is a blind built out of pine boughs I have to rebrush every year.

I have a couple ladder stand locations ready, but plan on spending most of the time in a gilly and some natural ground stands back in the cedars.

Like Irish, Love those cedars. When the conditions are right its a great way to hunt. I plan on doing it more this season.
