I bought the Cabelas felt hat and carefully trimmed the brim. Since it has an unfinished edge in the first place you can hardly notice the differenc

BTW for the summer I use a straw fedora with a short brim. cooler to wear and keeps sun off your head

I have one that is really for fishing and is foldable but looks like Byron Ferguson's hat he wears. It is just to hot most the year to wear here in Texas.

gregk

I got mine from The Nocking Point when i was in Compton, it is short brimmed and bendable. I really like it. I think it was like $7

Toecutter

Got a camo Stormy Kromer cap, gore-tex and all with ear flaps that you cant beat when the weather turns.

Good Luck,

Big Jim has great warm weather radar style caps with a short bill (wire in it) to allow you to turn it up or down.

Noggintops.com has a good selection of Papa Bear styled short brim felt & wool hats. Worth a look.

Gray wolf woolens has a good line of hats, they are a sponsor here, the products there are top notch. I own several of their products and have had nothing but good luck with them all.    Hats

+1 on that.  I've got the Fred Bear model (sadly it failed to make me as successful as Fred) and love it.

The perfect hat is a real challenge to find.

I have several hats that I like but as yet I haven't found that "perfect hat" that just exudes "me".

I have seen a few folks wearing hats that are so natural on them they are almost as much a part of them as any other part of their body.

That's what I want for me.

God bless,Mudd
That one in your avatar isn't the perfect hat?  Come on man - that's the ONE.

I personally buy the hat I like for fit. Brim width is of no concern, all it takes is a divider and sharp pair of scissors and you're in business. I mean after all it's for hunting, the edge can be a little ragged and the animals hardly ever notice. I normally bend mine up in front anyway. (My wife hates my hats though)
Bowhunting is a passion, not an obsession. Its just hard for my wife to tell the difference sometimes.

Finding a hat is easy. Finding one to fit is tough when you have a size 8 head. That is a 2XL, which most companies don't carry. The brim is another problem still. Prairie Traditions can take care of most of your needs. Give Joe a call, if he doesn't have it, he'll point you in the right direction. I just got one from the Alabama Hat Lady that is perfect. Plenty big and no problem with the short, flexible bill. Can't say enough good things about her hat.

I have  a Stetson Three Forks Gun Club Hat from Cabela's it's $129.99, but I've had mine for over 7 years & it's still a great hat. Looking a bit worn now, but still very servicable. It's felt with a 2-1/2" brim, just right for a trad archer. I really like mine & I'd buy another.

Today I looked at some of the short brim hats that the Wensel brothers offer and they're pretty neat little deals.  Light, tough, adjustable, and in camo or solid colors.  You just pop it on your head and bend the bill however you want for string clearance or "personal style".  Good price too. It's called "The Bowhunter's Lid". If you are looking for a heavier short brimmed hat Classic Bowman makes a wool hat called the "Bowhunters Brim".  I can post some photos if anyone wants to see either one.
