I was just wondering how many of you use the Alaska Bowhunting grinder setup for sharpening broadheads I have been looking to get sometrhing for my single bevel broadheads thanks for any input.

Zradix

If you're talking about the paper wheel setup they do work.
I have one like it.
They work fast. You can get a scary sharp edge.

The only thing about them that causes problems is there is no guide or jig.

YOU still need to hold the angle.
The "grinding" wheel can take metal off awfully fast so be gentle.

The grinder will loose the abrasive after a while...quite a long while. You just hit it with some rough (80 grit sandpaper?) to smooth it.
Then some glue on the wheel and roll it in more abrasive.

I echo Zradix comments. It takes practice to hold the angle just right so don't start with 'good broadheads' use practice broadheads.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow's effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

I have a short video on here called ABS Griz wheel Sharpening a Single bevel or something like that where i go step by step how to get it paper shaving sharp.

ABS on their web site has one from Todd Smith thats excellant as well as mine.

Just a note about the Grizz Wheel..it's not a grinder type wheel but basically a touch up wheel to a head or knife that needs resharpened to razor sharp or dull back to razor sharp..However you can grind a new shoulder but you will have to retreat wheel with diamond more often.

Trick is to get a micro burr on grit wheel and buff it off on the other wheel.....single bevel trick is simply only grind one side to keep it a single bevel and strop other side or lightly buff to flake burr off.

I can sharpen any ABS head face shaving sharp in less than a minute....kitchen knives...oh my gosh!

They do work well,  can be had much cheaper other places.

Brian, good talking to you today. Find Joebucks thread and give it a look. He's the one that turned me on to this system. I'll bring mine to sissipaw and you can be the judge. Don

Onewho.....when you got that first BH Scary sharp, did u sharpen everything you had in your tackle box right then and then your kitchen and then move on to your neighbors? It's just fun!!! It's so simple.....45 seconds i can take a silver flame back to legendary sharpness.....
