WOW!!!! that is amazing ,do people swim in that lake after seeing that.

Amazing fish!
A little late to second guess on shooting this big one so I think we just need to sit back and admire it.  I do wonder how old it would be?

Do you have a wall big enough for it?

Congratulations!  I too have never seen something that large taken with a bow.  In terms of size that one is running in to harpoon territory.

If I didn't see it I don't know I would believe a fish could get that big!  Nice shot.

Congrats Mark, phenomenal gar. I always thought one of those mounted over the fireplace would be cool (but expensive) I think our Taxidermists charges around $12-15 per inch.

Yessir it was a monster but actually I think I missed another one the next day that may have been bigger, hard to imagine missing a telephone pole laying in the water, but I did and by at least a foot!! We were filming an episode for Muzzy's TV show down in TX with Jack Thatcher of Extreme Bowfishing and had a blast.  I got another one on film in the 74in range as well and my partner shot a 63in gar too along with a bunch of tilapia, buffs, carp and smaller spotted gar, it definitely was a trip of a lifetime and I finally got me a gar over 200# which has been a dream of mine for ever since I shot my 1st one many years ago.  I also shot her with my Muzzy reel and 150# line which many say you cannot shoot big gar with and had it to the boat in about 10-15mins, but it was definitely not without lots of tugging and running and a couple of more arrows I can assure you.  I used my 54# Hoyt Gamemaster bowfishing bow which I use to shoot my alligators with and it worked very well with the new carbon arrows.  Alligator gar are alive and well in TX despite the many rumors going around and we saw several while we were there.  This fish is getting mounted and I hope to get it back home someday, just have to come up with the money and that is going to take awhile.  The gar was 7ft 6in and weighed around 230#, can't imagine what it weighed during the spawn, but definitely a monster and trophy of my lifetime and I can definitely add that was my Muzzy Moment of a lifetime for me.  Thanks
They'll be no quitters till we bag us some critters!
