I will be taking calls for leashed dog wounded deer blood tracking this fall in western Indiana and eastern Illinois.  I'll travel up to 1.5 hr from Cloverdale, Indiana.

I'm not charging to do this - I'm trying to help hunters recover deer and to get my dog onto more tracks.  This is Oskar's 2nd year tracking and he had a great season last year finding 12 deer of 13 tracks attempted - at age 3 months to 6 months old.  I don't expect that high of a success rate on cold calls (we tracked for friends and family only last year) - but he is an amazing tracker.  My goal is to get Oskar onto at least 20 recoveries a year.

I'll track for bowhunters - both "modern" and traditional. I will not track deer shot with crossbows. Firearms wounded deer on a case by case basis depending upon the situation.

Oskar doesn't care about antlers at all - we're as happy to track a doe fawn as a 200 inch buck - size of the animal does not matter.

If you would like more information please send me a Private Message with your name and email address and I'll forward more information.  Be sure you are within a reasonable distance (no calls from 8 hours away, please   ;)   ).

Ryan

My wife handled Oskar on this recovery last year, he was 4 months old and this deer travelled approximately 300 yards.

Oskar and I tracked this doe in the late season - would have been a difficult recovery without the dog.

Excellent offer, too bad I am outside your range. We could have used that for my buddies deer last year. Never found it.

My pup "CHOWDER" came from the same bloodlines and these teckels are so AMAZING and you won't find a better man than Ryan!!

Ryan, do you care if I steal a little of your thunder and post a thread on Chowder for Central AR??

Thanks for the offer- I hope I don't need you, but gives me comfort knowing there would be someone to call.

Using a dog for tracking is smartest thing you can do. Ever seen a dog working on a track? If the dog knows his sport, he will asthonish you with the skill and speed in his ways.
And one thing: If you offer a bossibility for a good tracking dog to work, the dog will be so happy ! It allways amezes me, how willingly a good dog tkaes care of his duty.
Good tracks for all of you !

Barry - absolutely, glad you're enjoying your pup.

Reggie - PM me your information and I'll forward mine to you.

I don't want to post my personal contact information here, that's why I'd like guys in the area to PM me and I'll email directly to them.

Ryan, good luck this year. That dog should do even better and be  lot smarter now that he has some practice in the fine State of Michigam  :bigsmyl:  My daughters dog as I told you is from the Jeanenny(sp) line and has an Oskar from Poland or The Netherlands in her pedigree. Any chance the wirehair and smooth coat are related?

You are going to be a busy man.

You and Oskar are going to end up being part of lifelong memories for many folks.

Hi Ryan,

Here's a challange.

Oscar 0

Bridger 0

Let's see what the score is in January.

Bridger, tracking in SE Wisconsin, except for the rut, then it's Buffalo County, Western
Wisconsin.

To get in touch with Bridge call Todd at 262-227-6877.

That's a great gesture.

Out of curiousity, does Oskar have any trouble in the snow...his legs aren't real long.

Hess

Ryan,

If you're trying to "help hunters" why wouldn't you track crossbows kills?  It would be great for the dog and you might learn something...

Put Oskar on all of it, I'm sure he doesn't care!

I don't mean to open a can of worms but give me a break.  My phone number is 406.544.5208 and email is erik@hesshomeworks.com.

Good luck boys, shoot straight.

TxAg - So far so good in the snow.  Had him in around 6 inches last year no problem.  In those pictures he is about 3/4 grown (he is full sized at 20 lbs now).  Generally if you need to track in the snow it is because you are in high deer traffic areas and there are trails beat down anyway - if it is fresh snow or low deer traffic then it is easy enough you won't need a dog.

PM's answered!

Hess, I'm sending you a PM.

Great offer Ryan.. Like I said before I wish we lived closer just so I could watch Oskar work a trail...

When and if you take him on a recovery this fall please let us know in a thread..
