For those that are interested in books like this John Jeanneney just published a book on the subject called "Dead On!".

I have not finished reading it as of yet, about 3/4 of the way through now, but so far it has been a good read and full of great info. Plus it has tons of quality pictures that follow along with the book as it is read.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow's effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Looks like a great book. I just ordered my copy. Thanks for the head's up!

Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered a copy. I think I own every book ever made on the subject and I feel there is still so much to learn. Watch out though because I have found that the better you become at tracking, the more midnight phone calls you get from your buddies begging for help. Worse yet is the calls from people you have never met. I don't mind it much though because there is no better feeling than finding lost game.

Terry,

Dad is doing great...he back to shooting hunting weight already...not too bad for a guy who had a vertebra taken out of his back less than 5 months ago.

We are both looking forward to the season finally getting here.

Thanks for the heads up.  I keep John's book on tracking dogs in my truck during hunting season.  There are two chapters in it on types of wounds and sign they will leave. I have had to refer to it a few times for myself or other fellas marginal hits. Have to grab this one!!!

Received my book today and I am about half way through. Form what I have read so far it is full of great information but seems to be more geared towards those that have little to no experience. Either way a great read.
