I am in the market for some new tree stands but it is difficult finding stands designed or rated for over 300lbs. I have been using a summit goliath (climbing stand) and like it a good bit but wanted to look around to see what else is available in both climber and lock on. 350# rating is fine. I like the extra roomy ones also.

thanks, bigjim

No brainer - chippewa-wedge loc,  either the brute or brutus maximus rated 475# very large and solid as can be.  I'm your size and have used them exclusively for last last 8-10 years.   these are lock on.        www.chippewawedgeloc.com

Hi Jim,
They're a little more money than other brands but I would go with a Lone Wolf. They're all rated to 350# and you won't find a better and more stable stand. The LoneWolf climber is the only climber I'll use.
Thanks,

NOn-Typical made a great large man stand...called the "outfitter".

Ameristep finally talked Wayne into licensing them to build it. It's a hang on. I love me.

Big platform. sturdy seat..(I got a wayne model with the swivel seat..but there is the one with an extra wide/deep non-swivel.

Rates at 350#. Can be hung from either side... other neat features.  It's also packable and Wayne's Rapid Rails are great ascent /decent method for big guys..boxed foot ladders that nest. I won't use anything else and feel as comfortable and safe!

Big steel stands rank right up there by others, if you can leave them for the season.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Jim,
Go with the hang on Screaming Eagle Treestands. They don't make climbers. NO WEIGHT LIMIT !!! I love mine !!

Jim, need to talk with Biggee, I know he has dealt with this before and definitely would have some suggestions for you.  Good luck

I'm a big guy-and the Chippewa and Lone Wolf Stands are awesome. I spend a lot of time in these 2 stands during the season. I love them both, but I really don't think there is a stronger stand than the Chips. Peace!

Do yourself a favor and check out Climax stands.  I don't know the stated wt limit, but you'll break the tree before you break a Climax stand from weight.  Big, nice seat, go on ANY tree.

#1 hang on stand there is, period, IMO.

Screaming Eagle:  "Weight: 14 pounds. Seat height: 25". Platform is 25" wide and 24" deep. Welded, unpainted steel. Five feet of chain. Installation instructions included. Weight capacity -- We have tested the stand to over 4000 pounds...no other stand can hold that kind of weight!"

I didn't check today, but they used to have a photo of one with a volkswagen hanging from it.  We have 14 on our farm...best stand made in my opinion.

Thanks guys- already an impressive list to check out. I have used many stands over the years and have disliked more than I like.
I am spending more and more time in the bow shop standing on concrete and less time excercising or doing any other physical exhertion. Therefor, It takes more effort to hunt or set up stands. Comfort is key. I want to put in a good word for the summit goliath. Easy to use, light weight and comfortable.
thanks,bigjim

Like others here, my favorites are the "good old"  screaming eagle and lone wolf, both have advantages over each other.

Look them over and try them first if you are worried about comfort. I think that the Lone wolf beats the screaming eagle in that department though.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

carbonflyr

ditto what mjb said, the screaming eagle will hold 2 biggie's all day long LOL
