So, I had to sell off my top 3 end bows due to a family medical emergency but, fortunately this was already in the works. 1976 Bear Super Kodiak 60", 50# @ 28". Last year made in Grayling, MICH. Still hitting strong!

1976 Blue stripe, Does it say with Fascor on the bottom limb.

That sure looks just like a old bow I used to have. I traded her away many years ago and regretted it ever since.

You sure got a nice bow there. I carry a mid-70's (I think) green 45#, 60" Kodiak Hunter into the TX whitetail woods, and am proud to do so. Show that nice Kodiak some critters in OR, and if you do your part, she will do hers. Best of luck with the family's health, and enjoy shooting that bow.

Fascor was introduced in the early 70's as a performance enhancement of the Bear limb cores. It essentially is resin impregnated maple. If you look at the limb edges the cores will have a grey appearance, looking almost dirty. That is the Fascor limb lamination. On all the older Bears the limb edges were the lighter color of the maple core. Not sure how much difference it made, but they are great shooting bows.

If this is my old bow    It's not her first time to Oregon   :D  We hunted up there for many years and she made the trip a few times. Always shot great for me and she can put the animals down too.

By the way I still have the old 6 arrow Bear quiver I used with the bow. It didn't come with the bolt on quiver bushings and I put them on it just for that quiver.

I spent many a hours setting in tree stands looking at the pretty maple wood on that bow. Never seen another one with as nice a grain.

Not weird at all, Pretty cool if you ask me    Oregon is a much nicer state to live in than Kansas anyway.

I've never hunted big whitetails and I hear ya'll got 'em over that way. Perhaps someday we can swap a hunt.

So have you noticed yet that the riser is different from most Super Kodiaks on this bow.

It is the first one I've ever owned but, from looking at pics of them, I notice that the throat of the grip is narrower and it has a nice rounded shelf instead of flat. This bow amazed me at how quiet it was for being a recurve. I am pretty much a longbow guy but, this is the first recurve that is as quiet as my longbows.

By the way, I made up some Surewood arrows a while back and did a follow along on here. They are 70#-75# spine, cut 29.5 bop, w/160gr field tips. This is the first bow that I got consistent perfect flight with them. I shot them for about 1/2 hour today and it was just driving them like tacks. I need to refletch one of them now!
