I was rushing to work last night(overnight) and realized I had nothing to read. (yes, I read at work, when the time permits)

Anyway, I stopped on my way in at the local wally world to pick up a magazine or two. I couldnt find a TBM, so I got two of the "other" bowhunting mags.

Now, going through the first one, I was delighted to find a "stickbow section", with not one, but two articles. I was impressed.

A few hours later, after another spell of business, I was floored to find the other magazine also had a "stickbow section". Articles from proper alignment to Kzoo.

It was refreshing to say the least. As were numerous adds throughout each for KK, Trueflight, 3R, and the like. Very cool, I think, that the big business is starting to work with "stickbows" instead of knocking them. Just my .02 cents.

i noticed the same thing the other night in wally world...even had a testing section and the "hottest new trad bows" section.

didnt realize that alaska bowhunting supply and Adcock had hooked up to build a bow...looks just like the ACS to me, but im sure there is more to it than meets the eye..either way both companies have super bows

It's called marketing....they also want your money! They see that there is a bunch of us that don't buy into all the new gizmos and if they can even get 2 fingers in your pocket, they will. I'll sick with the regulars TBH and Trad Archers world. I'm just about to let my Bowhunter subscription end after many many years. Just to many adds for stuff I don't care about or need! There that's my $.02

COMPOUNDLESS IN CONCRETE

I like the articles that Denny Sturgis writes for Bow and Arrow Hunting mag, but I much prefer TBM.  Now that I have switched to a recurve, I just don't care to read about sight pins, peep sight alignment aids, bow mounted range finders with built in flame throwers, which $250 hinge style back tension release is a must have this season, and all the other stuff that seems to be only geared toward compound bowhunters.

I think ron w is right.  Marketing.

Guys, I know what you are saying. I was caught in a pinch and only bought said mags out of desperation. But, and I think it is a big but, I used to have subscriptions to all those mags, and I cannot remember a single trad related item being talked about or advertised. All Im saying is that it is nice that they are diversifying, whatever their motives may be...

Spurs

Our wal mart here always had trad bowhunter magazine.  I haven't seen it in months.     :dunno:

agree with you that it is nice to see them there in the techie mags. They are decent articles, the ones I have seen, and it gives them more depth. Advertising can be a good thing, many people really think that a pulley powered arrow launching device is a bow.

More than one have begun to stickbow hunt because they saw Barta, and at first I thought he was a nut. Some share of voice for the traditional community helps our numbers grow.

I always loved the Larry Jones articles where he didn't push "traditional" but he always used a recurve.  Just read a great article where the subject was using a decoy (I don't plan on trying it) and the author shoots a longbow.  Todd Smith did some articles in an industry magazine aimed at dealers.  His message was basically add trad or lose business.  Love to see that stuff.
