Hi!
Since it is out of hunting season for many of us, I thought I would share with you my latest trip in my playground/mountains where I live in Norway.
This is on the west coast and not far away from where you will be out in the Atlantic ocean.

After lot of tough work lately I decided that I needed to empty my thoughts, relax and refill my batteries so on Friday I decided to grab my small tent a sleeping bag and my fishing rod and head for the mountains around my family's cabin.
My wife and children should meet me at the cabin Saturday evening.

So off I went for some "serious" body & mind exercise    

My target where some small lakes about 6-7 miles from my parking and approx 4 miles from my cabin.

Here is the scenery I went thru:

In the end of this lake is a river with the cleanest water in the whole of Europe    )

After the detour I went on my way to the small lakes and here is a nice spot I felt sharing with you:
unfortunately there is not allowed to hunt with bow and arrow in Norway yet but here is a place I would have made a hunting spot:

 

Finally I was up over the three limit and the landscape opened up, and here is my backtracks:

The fish was hunting for flies and I did see them feeding in the water surface so I decided that this would be my camp.

I had taken very little food with me on this trip for making it a light carry, but who needs to pack a lot of foods with these kind of pan fish swimming around        

   

The weight I guess to ca 2.5 pounds    :D    

So here is my dinner/evening meal for the night

 


I woke up at 7 o'clock in the morning crawled out of my tent and grabbed my fishing rod and after three tries I had my breakfast.

And i do believe that nothing tastes better than coffee and fried fish made over open fire alone and away from everything than your self and the nature        

After some nice fishing and hiking around in the mountains I went back and met my wife and our daughters, and guess what: yes we went hiking and fishing

Very cool pics! It's illegal to hunt with a bow in Norway, or is there just no dedicated archery season? What species are available (open)to hunt there?

On a caribou hunt last year I met a fellow from Norway who was filming a documentary on Nelson (spelled Nansen?) and his exploration of the Canadian North. I wish I could recall that fellows name he was one interesting guy....

nice..nothing like getting away from it all.i am heading into the wild pretty soon here to do some elk scouting and gold panning.

Yes it is illegal to hunt with bow and arrow, only with guns.

But hopefully we will have a new round for the rules in a near future.

The big game in Norway for hunting is Moose, reindeer, deer. Smaller game is roe deer, fox, hare, goose etc.

And sometimes bear and wolf if they have been to interested in the farm animals.

I envy you. That is some of the most beautiful country ever. Your description of breakfast sure made me want to try it. A nice trout too. Sure makes me wish I were there.

Tak!  Wish I new more Norwegian but I'm a 4th generation American Norwegian -- so have lost what my family new back then.

Was in Norway in 2005 in Stavanger with distant relatives there, would love to visit again.

What a dream it would be to be amoung the first to experience Norway bowhunting.  Let's hope that it happens at some point - the US has a long history of bowhunting, but there was a time when we were all in your shoes.  Hard for us to imagine now, and something we should never take for granted.
