Doing research for future hunt. Is there a bear season that will allow you to hunt in June?  Anyone had any success?  And if you have an outfitter in mind, could you list them.

Thanks,

Years ago first week of June in Thompsen Manitoba. Lots of bears and good fur.

You should have no problem finding a hunt for at least the 1st half of June. Rubbed bears can be an issue but remember that the mature boars seem to hold their fur the longest. Almost all the bears I've killed in June have had good fur. Best of luck....Ryan

June is one of my favorite times to hunt.It can get very exciting. You just have to look the bears over as far as rubs and it is a good idea to learn to tell sows from boars.A sow at that time with no cubs means a sow in heat.A boar will be following. It is important to be able to identify the sow, then be patient.

As Manitoba Stickflinger said, the big old boars usually keep their hair good till the end.

Go with Manitoba Stickflinger, he's an outfitter on the site. Look at his above post, for a link.

Are any of these spot-and-stalk hunts?

I killed my bear on May 31 this year and I believe  that it had been over 20 years since I had killed one myself in May (and I kill at least one a year).

There is varying rutting behavior for most of June and that is a lot of fun.

In Quebec the season ends June 30. Most provinces bear seasons end anywhere from June 15th to June 30th.

Manitoba Stickflinger is correct when he says that most mature boars have nice fur at that time of the year. It is a phenomenon
that I noticed many years ago and that I mentioned  to the biologists here in Quebec. As far as I know, it was not documented.

If you are thinking of going with Manitoba Stickflinger, in my opinion, Manitoba is as good as any place in North America to hunt black bears.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

As I have been entertaining the idea of my first bearhunt, this post was very helpful. Thanks for posting/asking Interseptor.
