Mornings 'cause that's when my dad always took me.
Starting in the afternoon and hunting the evening just seems weird.

i seem to get more bugling bulls in the morning but evening hunts have proven to be more productive as far as the elk actually coming in to my calls.

I couldn't possibly pick between the two.  I love hunting them both.  When I think back I think my successes might be a bit skeewed towards the mornings, but I hunt every chance I get, morning or evening.  Each has its own advantages and special pleasures.

During the rut, kin til cant -- from when I "kin" se in the morning to when I "can't " see in the evening.  See most of the bigger bucks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. though.

Neither. My favorite is mid-day during the chase period of the rut. For some reason, around 3:30pm, in the final days of October and the 1st 1/2 of November until firearms season, seems to be the magic time over the years. Around 11:00am-12:30pm has been good then too.
My best bow buck was taken at 3:25pm and the next best was at 3:35pm. Both came charging in to a grunt call.

Both morning and evening are special times to be in the woods.  But as one of the other guys stated...it is truly awesome to hear God's outdoors come alive. Truly Peaceful!

I like mornings best and had rather shoot deer in the mornings.Gives you time and daylight for skinning and butchering.Still like most I hunt when I can and for a working guy that usually means more afternoons than mornings.   :)
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

I like mornings much better and have killed more big bucks in the mornings. I also much rather shoot one in the morning than evening. I always hunt alone and have to bone out and pack out the meat..much easier in the daylight.

I found out last year how much I love walking in the woods before the sun comes up, I have never experienced anything so peaceful.  So with the tiny amount of experience I have, Mornings!!!

I prefer mornings, have shot deer both AM and PM. Seem to see more nice bucks in the AM. I have certain spots for certain hunts, though.
I also like to see the woods come alive in the AM, but hate to see the day end in the PM. Blood trailing is also better when you know you have a full day of light ahead of you, instead of trailing by flashlight.

I like both ...BUT I really don't like to take a shot to late. I hate the thought of have'n to leave a blood trail over night. Did it once ,got lucky and found the deer intact the next day early. To many "yotes" to make me want to take a evening shot!!!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Hunting alone, the morning time for the peace and quiet. Afternoon if I'm on public land. I let the lunch crowd push the deer around for me. Evening if one of my hunting buddies with me. just so we can shoot the bull after a hunt.
