I was at the local bow shop with my Bear Kodiak Magnum, and the owner checked my brace height... Well I was measuring it wrong. (mainlyI checked it bc I was hitting my forearm with the string and that has not happened in years, so I kinda figured something was wrong) So I reset it and my forearm strike problem dissapeared.

When I got home I checked my 3piece Bob Lee 58" recurve and relized it was too low on brace height too. I went online and found out it should be around 7.5". I tried to get it there but the closest I could get it was 6.5" - 6.75"

Now it shoots great but is it bad that I couldnt get the correct brace height.

If you twist your string, you should be able to get 7.5".

Typically bowyers will give you a range of brace height as opposed to a specific setting.

What works for one shooter on bow A won't work for shooter two. The best thing to do is start on the low side of the recommendation and shoot it adding a couple twists increasing the height shoot it again and repeat. Eventually you will find the "sweet" spot where you get the least noise and lowest shock.

My bow likes to be at 7 1/8"even though the recommended range is 6 3/4 to 7. They are like people...similar but unique.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow's effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Some bowyers measure it differently. Some from the edge of the shelf, some from the throat of the grip. Call Bob Lee and ask them how to measure theirs. Does your bow look really funny now its at the new brace, kind of like it's already drawn part way? You could be really high if you cant get any more out of it, that's unusual. If they measure from the belly of the shelf (the edge closest to you) then you are probably way too high. Call and find out the right way.

Yep, keep twisting assuming you have the correct length string.

No it doesnt look weird, But like you said, they all measure different, Ithink it was still a little low though bc its much quieter and does shoot better...

the local shop owner by me said that the #1 problem people have when their bows begin to not "shoot" right is that their brace heights are WRONG! He said he looks like a hero when he gives the string a few twists one way or another and the noise goes away and the bow shoots better again!

LOL... thats pretty much what happened.... He even said he should charge $100 per quick fix and just give the gear away for free... he would make a fortune....
